Koss Portapro Thread

I scored a set on clearance.  No wonder you guys love these.  And despite being cheap and open back, deep bass all the way to 20Hz, much better midrange and treble balance than KSC75, sweet!
I wish one of those eBay sellers made 45mm velours for KSC75 and PortaPro, that should bring out the clarity that the upper registers lack.  The Grado pad mod looks cool, but the use of cardboard is... questionable.  Maybe I'll get lucky and find something better made of wood or ABS plastic at the local hardware store later to try that out.

Where'd you get them? I have a friend who's in the market and prices are on the high side right now.

Local K-Mart store.  I scored the last one.
Edit: Ho ho, here I was thinking, "dang, so good!", but now that I compare them side by side with my PX200 that I hadn't used in some time, maybe my initial impression was exaggerated.  Well, PX200 even has an edge even against my DTX501 with its more transparent, spacious, and organic midrange, but the other two beat it at the rest.  PX200 also has an issue with reverb in the cups due to a lack of dampening.  Well, differently-flavored ultra-portables to keep me from getting bored.

...There were red Porta Pro?  Does anyone know if these are legit?  I was only aware of 3 color patterns, the standard, the white, and the black anniversary edition.

Edit:  yep, apparently I was just utterly ignorant of their existence...  if I do end up buying a pair again for some great ultraportable goodness, I might have to get this color.

So you verified that they are legit? If so, then I didn't realize those variations existed either, and for a pretty good price. Cool!

Well, I'm not entirely sure, but when I actually bothered to look for them, they were quite easy to find in multiple locations, so I'd assume somewhere out there a legit red porta pro has to exist.

How do I get the headphone into the storage bag?

From what I remember, it was a bit of a tight fit after you clipped the headphone together, but I gave mine away as a present 2 years ago, so my memory isn't great.

I already tried it with clipping the thing, still too hard.  Awesome job, Koss.  Well, these things are cheap anyway.
Edit: got it

There's also a circular hard case for them

I'll get one later, I like hard cases better than bags.  I got a pleather Hiegi case for my PX200 a long time ago, then my DTX501 already has its own nice Beyer case.

That hard case looks pretty good. Trying to get them into the supplied pouch is just stupid lol.

No, they ship to Canada. But you missed the fine print. It says "Only does not ship to HUTNICKS in Canada".
