Koss KSC75's. Dont Forget This Giant Killer in all the ''Hidden Gem'' Hype.

Damn, KTXPRO1 is better? It was just on sale in my city for $20. Oh well. I was thinking of buying it. I'll check it out next time.

For my preferences, yes...but there are plenty who don't like it as much. The KSC stands out with its sparkly treble and more open soundstage, so it can go either way depending on the recording. They have nearly identical drivers, but the enclosure of the KTX makes it sound very different, giving it much more physical power and impact, as opposed to the light and airy KSC.

(Pushing the KSC against my ears didn't change the sound much.)

To give you an idea of how important the enclosure is...I swapped the drivers of the KTX and Porta Pro with the following results:

KTX > PP drivers on KTX frame > PP > KTX drivers on PP frame

No, I did not. I wasn't impressed with PP sound changes from the KSC75 so I didn't bother trying. If I broke it, I'd have to keep it. It was hard enough putting KSC75 on the headband.

Fwiw, when I first got the PP's, I returned them due to the overly boomy & bloomy bass. Later on I found a pair of sportapros online for something like $20US, so I snagged them. I did the trindysmom mods (basically kramer mods) on the drivers, and put them in the PE headband. The combination of the kramer mods and the drivers being against the ears with less pressure makes them sound way closer to the ksc75's, and imo bettter (subjective of course).

Bottom line is that if you're happy with the ksc75's, then that's great.

Interesting, it seems you love the PP drivers more than KSC75. I doubt I'll buy another PP pair again, but thanks for letting us know how you feel.

I checked out the Trindy's Mom video, it's too bad there aren't other. The mods seems pretty easy, but for someone like myself, who doesn't have the material and isn't DIY (parents related, as you know), I can't partake in such a venture. I'd love to one day, but I think the sound is great now as it is... I also own two pairs of KSC75's.

I find my KSC75's drain my Colorfly C3 better a lot, so I probably won't use them as a regular headphone. Do you guys notice the same with your player?

Easy for sure. Because I have the drivers on the PE headband, the only part of those mods that I am referring to are drilling 4 holes in the driver cover as shown below (just pop off the driver cover, drill away and then pop back on the cover):

To me, this is the best sounding set up of the three. I didn't do the mod, but I think there is better quality bass and the highs are more liquid and natural. The ksc75 is a little drier overall, which I like as well, but the black 35's (sportapro) on the PE headband is it for me.

Has anyone tried the Sportapro drivers (KSC35?) on the KSC75 earclips? I like the clips!

So just to be clear, in case you still didn't get what I said...I never said anything about the KSC75 in that quote. What I said was that I swapped the drivers of the KTXPRO1 and Porta Pro, and the KTXPRO1 frame sounded better than the Porta Pro frame with both drivers, with the KTXPRO1 drivers on the KTXPRO1 frame sounding the best. I have never swapped the drivers out of the KSC75, and I clearly stated that I like the KSC75 more than the Porta Pro in a previous post.

So are the KTKpro drivers encapsulated like the KSC75 and Porta/Sporta then?
