Koss KSC75's. Dont Forget This Giant Killer in all the ''Hidden Gem'' Hype.

I notice that the KSC75s don't leak a lot of sound, but the Portapro's do. Would the KSC35's drivers by themselves leak not a lot of sounds either?

KSC35 is the same driver as the portapro

The KSC35 driver is different than the KSC75. The 35 is the same driver as the PortaPro while the 75 is a titanium driver.

I think that is already understood.

I think the KSC75's leak a fair amount of sound, especially if you're listening to rock, as i am right now.

A good alternative is the JVC HAS160B. It's very inexpensive, has very good sound for the price, is small and closed.

I think I actually might prefer the sound of the JVC's to the Koss. Will do another comparison tonight when I get home.

The JVC are also lower impedance (32ohms), whereas the KSC75's are 60ohms. This makes a difference with low-output devices.

I don't, but I do like them a lot and agree they are great for the money (£7).

They're the ones I have. Well made with good materials. Lots of other colours too. They really do look and perform as though in a much higher price range.

Edit: I just did a quick comparison. The main difference is that the soundstage on the KSC75 is bigger in all dimensions. That makes it worth the extra to me.

Is there any reason not to do the headband mod?

I just got hte KSC75s and I cant imagine myself doing any of the other mods(no drilling for this guy) and I've love to replace the wires if I had the know how, but the headband mod seems up my alley!  Just wondering if there are any negatives at all about it?

Thanks!

There are some people who like the clips.

Me? Headband all the way. Just pluses.

I prefer the clips. The headband increases the bass too much for my liking.

My opinion: do it!

The mod is cheap, simple and reversible, so it's worth a shot. Personally with the ksc75 drivers, I like the increased bass due to the increased pressure of the drivers against the ears (versus using the clips). But I most often listen to the sportapro drivers on the headband because I gravitate to a bit more bass in general. The headband works well with the sportapro drivers (same as portapro and ksc35 drivers) because it lessens the pressure of the drivers against the ears and the bass is lessened and no longer boomy (imo) like it is on the sportapro/portapro headbands. I also like the headband because it's so much more convenient than fiddling with earclips - I am taking off and putting on my headphones frequently at times and it's great being able to just whip them off and have the hanging around the neck.

So the headband mod rocks! Do it!

Same here.

Small portable headphones are already bass-challenged due to the small drivers, so I welcome the increased bass that comes with the headband mod.

And yes, the mod is cheap and reversible...so why not?
