Koss KSC75's. Dont Forget This Giant Killer in all the ''Hidden Gem'' Hype.

Tried the Grado S cushions on the PE headband. Comfort and sound very good but, the large cushion size and light clamping makes the whole rig slide off my head unless I stay very still. Back to the Sennheiser 414 pads, which are perfect. Just experimenting and thought to let y'all know.
You probably need a pad adapter. That'll keep the cushions in place.

Quick share of a cheap mod I have been using for more than a year now.

I just find the cheapest walkman style headphone (can even be those disposable ones you get during flight), and just stick on some snap-on buttons. Sometimes you may need to reshape the headphone cups (sawing and/or sanding), and even add some fill-in material - in my case some paper clay. Then just use E6000 to stick the snap-on buttons. If the surface is flat, I would just use some 3M VHB tape.

On the drivers/speakers side, I would just use VHB tape to stick on the other side of the snap-on buttons. For wiring, I just use JST PH2.0 connectors which I think is common for PC builds. So it's just all daily stuff which should be readily purchased at the cheap.

With this setup, I can easily roll drivers on plug-and-play basis.

I have also modded a pair of Creative Labs JAM v2 wireless headphone which does aptx HD, so I can listen to the KOSS and other drivers wirelessly, whatever I fancy on the day. I have tripled the Lipo batt capacity (original was just 200mAh), and also extracted and moved Mic 1 to a detachable 3.5mm boom. I use this wireless headset for music and also work calls.

However an annoying downside is that the headband may tend to roll down my face - as the snap-on buttons will just free wheel. To avoid this, I stick some non-slip pad at the top of the headband for some friction against top of my head.

Overall, it's not perfect and not so elegant, but it allows me to enjoy my music the way I like using whatever drivers I prefer, both wired and wirelessly.

XD I'm ded XD

Genius.

What other gear do you have? I felt severely underwhelmed by the KSC75x, especially considering how much money I threw at them by modding.
I've been using KSC75 and the KSC55 before them for over 20 years now and I can tell you the newer KSC75 sets made within the last 5-10 years are a noticeable downgrade in soundstage, bass, build quality (a la extremely thin cable wire) to the older made models unfortunately. I haven't been able to confirm if this is the same with the PortaPros/SportaPros as I haven't purchased a new pair in many years to compare with my older set.

Yeah but the ksc75 has always had thin wires. And they're even thinner on the ksc75x.
Do the the recent/current made KSC75 sold today have the same string wires as the KSC75x? I've only had a chance to use the KSC75x I picked up in 2019 (when it comes to newer made models) to compare with my older sets of KSC75. But what I did notice was a downgrade in soundstage and bass when compared to the 10+ year old made KSC75 models.
