KOSS ESP-950 Thread

The ESP-950's seem the way to go for the price.

I haven't seen the web price go below $780 in last few months. I saw some threads from a few years back mentioning a $600 price - I wonder
If price will reach that.

Thanks

before April of 2013 they regularly hit $600, but since then you may have to wait until Black Friday. See a graph here:

You can usually get them for around $600 direct from Koss around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. They had the 40% off sale around that time last year I believe.

I have one listed in Toronto, Canada

Just not sure about shipping charges. Probably with our low Canada dollar, it would work out at $600 US

I should post on Head Fi in the Sale section. Just give me a day or 2.

Thanks - Great site.

KOSS had a 30% off list sale for St Parricks day - but it excluded the ESP-950.

My brother had the original KOSS Electrostatic about 30 years ago. It was great but
very uncomfortable. Some of the electronics was actually built into each cup.

I read all the reviews and this seems to be the best electrostatic outside of
The Stax 007, but they're $1800 without an energizer.

Yes. The Monday after Thanksgiving has been consistent for the last few years  for everything 40% off.

KOSS sent out an offer for 25% off today thru 13th - but like the St Patrick's day offer - it excludes esp-950.
Not sure if it's worth waiting for more KOSS offers.

Historically, Koss has been pretty liberal about their warranty policy. You could buy a used pair and if there is an issue Koss will probably cover it even though it's supposed to be original owner only.

One side of mine stopped working, have to contact them one of these days for the warranty repair. Really a delicate baby, didn't do anything rough to it.

I will agree, the ESP-950 is not very sturdy. It would be great if Koss updated them with a sturdy body, also they should offer a amp upgrade, maybe get some one like Rankin to design it or another notable electronics Guru to design a SE special addition amp.

A friend of mine just posted his CD shopping photo on Weibo.

This is exactly what I have in mind after I bought my ESP/950, but haven't get around to trying it out. Must get the battery pack fill up immediately and give it a try.

This is definitely the best way to "Try before you buy" a CD. Wander if anyone try this before? Will ESP/950 sounds softer when run on batteries?

I have not used batteries in a while, but I do not remember them being softer or less extension. I will try them again and see how it sounds.
