Hi all.

Everything you wanted to know about the compensated FR curves of the most famous headphones on the market, without ever daring to ask, on a measuring platform with a compensated FR curve very close to the one I hear, at my ear, with these headphones, for my ear sensitivity.

https://crinacle.com/graphs/headphones/

Some examples of compensated FR of well known headphones, in spoiler below :

Note: the Thekk has not been (yet) measured on this measuring platform; but to give you an idea, the Thror has been; and there are comparative FR measurements of the Thekk (equipped with the ECl-01 stock pads versus Thror, equipped with these same ECL-01 pads) on another measuring platform (compensated differently in the high midrange and treble): Roughly speaking, add (to Thekk) to the Thror's FR base curve, 2 to 3 dB more in the bass and low-midrange between 60 Hz and 400 Hz; also add 2 dB more at 2000 Hz, and remove 2 dB less at 3000 Hz.

Kennerton Thekk (ECL-01 pads) : FR extrapolation

EDIT: I understand why I really liked listening to the prestigious Sennheiser HE-1 headphones: its FR curve is very close to the target curve of this measurement site (crinacle.com), and very close to that of the ... Kennerton Thekk (with ECL-01 pads in stock) (after extrapolation between the two measurement curves above Thror versus Thekk (ECL-01 pads)).

Post-scriptum : small out of topic for my compatriot @Milan01: with these two links below, you will understand why I enjoyed listening to the Sennheiser HE-1, but not the Mysphère 3.2 ...

This is one of the most beautiful shades of blue I've ever seen. I'm in love with my dark brown 'Dusk' color, it's elegant and vintage looking, but for a more modern and artistic shock-value approach these ones are unbeatable!

The waiting game got the best of me and I ordered another pair of ECL-02 pads last Saturday. They were sent to me on Tuesday and arrived today! Which is less than 48 hours from Russia to the Netherlands; including customs, including all things Covid-19.

Like I've said before: UPS complements the luxury and quality of the Kennerton brand.
Now onto the pads: I've just put them on the HP-1 and will listen over the weekend.

Did you have to pay taxes? @frost15 said that he had to.

Hi all.

20121809335023553817178161.jpg

Comments on this Thekk compensated FR curve (obtained by extrapolation of the Thror curve).

It is undeniable that the Thekk lacks sub-bass (below 60 Hz) and also treble and low treble between 5 and 8 KHz, even if there is a small, rather narrow, audible presence peak in the upper treble at 9 KHz.

On the other hand, the Thekk does not lack bass at all between 60 Hz and 200 Hz; it even has a slight excess of bass, about 2 to 3 dB, compared to the target curve: black line in the lower graph of the double FR curve (compensated and uncompensated, above), which can be flattering for listening to the bass guitar or cello, fleshy (with a lot of body); similarly, for human voices, the low-midds (200 - 500 Hz) is also slightly emphasized: +1 to + 2dB, which will bring an undeniable warmth to the voices (which will be rather warm, full, and not cold and thin).
The midds and high midds of the Thekk seems very well balanced and very close to the target curve, between 500 Hz and 4000 Hz, which is essential for the respect of the timbres of human voices and their higher harmonics.
Roughly speaking, the fundamentals notes of the human voices (from the lowest (80 Hz) to the highest (1.500-2000 Hz)) are superbly reproduced by the Thekk, with great tonal accuracy, and with body (full sound), and this can be heard very well with these headphones, very pleasant to hear. :)

PS: about Thekk, it now exists with a new variety of wood, an African rosewood called Wenge.

@eric65, when you receive more news about the new planar closed back that Kennerton are designing, share with us, please. I would love to see a comparison between them and GH 50 JM edition and Thekk (I hope @John Massaria and you receive one to review).

Let us hope very much that the coming new year (2021) brings all the answers to your questions ....

And while we're at it, may this new year get rid us of the Covid-19 which has just affected our French president; without vaccine, no salvation; we have to hold out for a few more months ... So, while waiting for a mass vaccination, which is long overdue in our country, the utmost vigilance to all and for all, remains in order (it is the doctor who is speaking to you).

For more informations on the new products to come from Kennerton (IEM planar high-end and closed-back planar headphones), it will be necessary to wait for further indiscretions on behalf of the CEO of Kennerton (Valentin); if they become public, I will let you know.

No, thanks anyway. I meant a comparison between the new closed planar from Kennerton (haven't released yet, is on design process) and the Thekk (because is planar, but open) and the GH 50 JM edition (dynamic and closed)... Maybe is not a fair comparison but to have an idea of the sound of them, the new R10 from Hifiman are far away from my max budget and I hope that the new Kennerton will cost around the same of Thekk or Thror... Dreaming is free...

I bought 2 from 2 different Aliexpress sellers and also would like to know what they are.
Outside they look like yours, with exception of having different numbers bellow 1612A.
I removed the die from both of them and they had the same die.

I only have a 3eur toy microscope, so I can't zoom more and couldn't find any identification:

I suspect with all the recent innovations coming from Kennerton as reflected in the Ghorns and Thekk and all their experience, this will be a very special headphone.
