I had the Rognir Planar for a couple of years, mating it with my Benchmark HPA4 solid-state amp, an extremely neutral and detailed amp that with the RP made for just a little too much of a hollow-sounding midrange. I agree with your assessment of the bass, somewhat lean but extended and detailed, and a detailed and prominent treble. I would think either a tube amp or a warm-sounding solid-state amp, perhaps one that runs in Class A like the Pass Labs HPA1, would be a good match with the RP to give a more full and warm midrange. I have seen some frequency response graphs of the RP and it shows a W-shaped response with a recessed lower and upper midrange, one that I could just never get used to although its technicalities are excellent. How do they compare?
Here's what I read and what I understand about them..
Heartland - Very good bass and darker sound signature. AMAZING mids and incredible vocal presence. Highs are smooth and non-fatiguing
Rognir - Neutral bass and treble, laid-back vocals, but heavy emphasis on instruments (great for metal / rock). I suspect recessed upper midrange but emphasized lower midrange?
Would you agree with this? From what I read, I actually think I might prefer Heartland if this description is correct.

Lately I've been using mostly closed back headphones + monitor speakers. So little of interest in open back headphones nowWhy did choose them over the new open back?

Paper-based planar drivers (probably unique for today's market)What type of drivers do the new headphones use?

While the review about the sound is in progress, a few photos about the history of my Arkona. The only thing missing - a photo of original tree in the forest )

just received my 1st pair of Kennertons.
what immediately surprised me was the complete lack of clamping force, an i have a fairly large noggin.
have seen on here that some users bend their headbands to rectify, reluctant to try this as they are brand new and i dont want to kill them. (i can be a tad heavy handed).
impressed with the sound quality though, even on my Icon tube amp.

Interesting. I own 4 Kennertons and all have great clamping pressure on them (not too much, not too little).just received my 1st pair of Kennertons.
