Does anyone know if the K601 shares drivers with the K501/500?  Just wondered due to the fact they are both 120 ohm and the 701 are lower.  Thought maybe the 601 uses the older driver and is a tweaked K501?  Not that this would be a bad thing of course.

K500 driver:

K501 driver:

K601 driver:

Interesting that the design is moving from several thin ridges to fewer and larger, to none at all.

Thanks for that. So what's your favorite AKG? I prefer the Q701 and then the K601.

I had the K501 and K400 in the past, but finally got my Sextett sounding good.

K601 I seem to like less if I over-analyze and compare it to the Q701 too much.

K601 also seems to have a little more bass than the Q701 and is warmer to me.

At the moment a K500 with modified baffle and K501 pads.

It sounds wonderfully realistic. The K601 and K701 are a bit too much "hif-fi", even though they're no doubt capable.
