Does anybody know the difference between the DX700 & DX1000 ?

EDIT: found it..seems the 700 is better and half the price...: http://casques-headphones.blogspot.be/2011_08_01_archive.html

Beware, what this guy says is pretty confusing... Why would Jvc shoot itself in the foot by releasing a better product for less?

I find it interesting that he recommends the cheaper DX700 so that people can spend an extra $850 on its cryo magic cable and custom cups.

The best thing being that he says that the dx700, in its stock form, is already better than the dx1000...

duke,

Can you give some impressions of these compared to the Fostex TH900?

Thanks

There is not much of a comparison between the two as the TH900 is really different from the DX1000. Everything is better on the TH900, especially the tighter bass control and the detailed treble. The thing about the DX1000 is that it shines with some music like no other headphone. I believe this is because of its "semi-dark" signature (TH900 is no where near a dark signature, more neutral) and the horizontal sound stage that can really result in an eargasm (The DX1000 wood shell plays a huge role in the resonance and the sound stage). The genre that I like most with the DX1000 is acoustic stuff, especially female vocals and guitar. I think there is more impact with the DX1000 but if you compare the bass with the TH900, it is really out of control. The TH900 has more detail and is definitely closer to neutral. Oh, and the isolation is better with the DX1000, but you look like a total fool when it's on your head, its like putting a teacup on each ear

Has anyone on head-fi done a proper comparison of the two? That French site quotes Skylab but I've never seen that post.

I find it rather disconcerting that I'm being quoted on French websites

I did have the DX700 and 1000 at the same time for a while, quite some time ago.  DX-1000 is definitely better, but the 700 was very good. They did sound pretty similar.  Been a LONG time since then though.

Yeah, it seems like he's just using your quote in an attempt to promote his mods. Still really curious how the DX2000 sound. They're quite a bit more expensive too.
