Are the DX-2000 actually available yet?

Well I'm  suspicious because that seems to be the ONLY place.  They are not available from pricejapan - just the 700 and 1000.

Yeah, you're probably right. But if that price is indicative of what they're going to cost then they would want to sound pretty damn amazing.

There is not much of a comparison between the two as the TH900 is really different from the DX1000. Everything is better on the TH900, especially the tighter bass control and the detailed treble. The thing about the DX1000 is that it shines with some music like no other headphone. I believe this is because of its "semi-dark" signature (TH900 is no where near a dark signature, more neutral) and the horizontal sound stage that can really result in an eargasm (The DX1000 wood shell plays a huge role in the resonance and the sound stage). The genre that I like most with the DX1000 is acoustic stuff, especially female vocals and guitar. I think there is more impact with the DX1000 but if you compare the bass with the TH900, it is really out of control. The TH900 has more detail and is definitely closer to neutral. Oh, and the isolation is better with the DX1000, but you look like a total fool when it's on your head, its like putting a teacup on each ear

.

i agree with you about the dx-1000.
i spent lot of energy to control the bass response on the dx-1000(i had two). i hope that my last jvc play better...

I wonder what are the differences other than color to the DX1000. They seem very similar to me but I noticed no more mention of "Victor" in the name as the DX1000.

It may just be a reissued DX1000 with a new coat of paint and new name. Or they could have s done what they did with the FX700/ FX800.

I just got mine in today and damn they sound good! The bass is to die for. There's definitely something very seductive and ineffable about the sound of these headphones. Strings sound so creamy & yummy.
