JVC HP-DX1000 Owners Unite!

Acquired a Holographic Audio Ear One. Really good amplifier for the DX 1000. Transparent and absolutely NO added warmth I am impressed how much detail it can extract from them. Particularly regarding the bass. These headphones may be more powerhungry then I thought. Goldpoint Headphone Pro has worked well for me also in the neutral and transparent camp and optimized for low impedance headhpones but it just don´t give the definition and nuances of the bass notes more one note. Neither do the C-2.1 which has quite a beefy trafo. Power ratings on the Ear one may be real. 3W at 32 ohm promised.

But don´t get me wrong it´s still a bassy and very warm headphone. Gonna harrass my neighbours with my LCD-2 tomorrow and see how it fairs. Using Era as benchmark.

Did you pick up the 1400 and have any luck with it?
I was hoping they'd fit in a 1200 I had in storage but no luck.

I estimated the DX1000 to measure 10"x8"x5".
The Pelican 1400 has internals dimensions of 11.81"x8.87"x5.18" so it should fit but I was worried it might be a bit too tight a fit to be comfortable with some foam for protection.

I was also looking at the Nanuq 915 with measurements of 13.8"x9.3"x6.2" which would definitely fit but I worried they might rattle around with too much unnecessary space (and foam).

I haven't bought a case yet but I think I'll get this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00013J86I/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1 as you can fit in two full-sized headphones in it.

today i received bad news. my new amplifier and source have too much gain for the dx-1000. will be a painful separation

Bump the gain down some...  Are you talking about the B22?

exactly.
the gain was lowered from 8X to 5X but the source, now, pratically is a preamplifier because the output stage is a jc-2 balanced preamplifier.
when i was the pld beta and old source wasd possible to listen the jvc only at 8-9(max) o´clock.
i´m a little sad because i love the voice and the magic of this headphone.
well...patience...got to he-6 or another hp but my wife was happy with a closed headphone
