This has been my experience.

Actually, I found they steadily improved up to the 100 hour mark.

Same. After 120 hours, I noticed no improvement.

I should add here that most of the negative comments about the DX1000's I have read in this thread were people who post about their sound PRIOR to the 120 hour mark

Right on target! Happened to me too, as reported here some 14 months ago. Since then (as reported), I've had no doubt whatsoever that they beat my #2, the D5000.

Same here. Must be that huge, three-dimensional space you dive into.

You mean fit issue, as there are no any comfort issues I've heard of.

My DX1000 have a tad over 150 hours of burn in. My wife loves their sound and their confort.

I also love their confort, was hoping that they would improve further up to the 200 hour mark that I normally set as a mark for new cans. However reading the feedback here it does not seem like this can will improve any more.

This is disapointing to me, I had very high hopes. Maybe I should trade my MPX3 for a SS amp by HeadRoom or Rudistor. Actually I have an IC on just that in the amp for sale forum.

The roll off top is not to my liking, but the bass, low to mid mids, and confort wise these have to be amongst the best SE can I have heard (except for the Sony Qualia).

If your set up on the warm side, they will not deliver. At the last mini-meet with KEES http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f45/06...e-pics-304435/ we have tried it with Zana and when ECC35 Mullard tube installed, NOT GOOD at all. Unfortunately I didnt have my 6SL7 COSSOR, which I think would simply be a bliss for JVC, but HD650 as well. However we get some nice results with 1945's 6sl7 VT 229 Sylvania, which was the best choice overall. You can find some info over here, if you like http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/my-...y-pics-336095/
Of course Zana isnt MPX3, but still think that tube choice would make a difference.

Hmmm... you see, I actually think the Mullard "Tall Boy" is very good with the DX1000. But, as always, different ears, and everything else in the chain...

Do you think the headamp GS-1 would be a good match for the DX-1000? I am being very tempted to buy this phone for the nice leather pad.

Any amp will be a good match, since you buying cans for leather pads.

I can't help but giggle whenever I see someone wearing these. Reminds me of the lemonhead candy logo.

Hey Progenitor,
One of my amps is a GS-1 with stepped attenuator. My DX-1000 sound great with it. Here is the order of how I like my DX-1000 and amps:
1) Rudi RPX-33 Mk II
2) GS-1
3) Rudi RP-7 Lite.

All of them sound great but if I need to give them an order with the DX-1000 that's it. With my other headphones the order changes.
