Hi! I have shortlisted this hp, (actually it's the DX2000 which is essentially identical). However, I would like to say that if I were to spend so much on this can, at the dac/amp section, I am comfortable with only spending my cash on the magni/modi price range. I know this ain't some  HE-6 but is it amp picky?

I heard it's slightly north in the treble region, has some awesome soundstage and well, the organic warmth presence in all Jap. woodies. The other reason and of course the most important one the awesome bass I've heard about. By the way, I can get a Denon D7000 for 100 bucks cheaper, any differences (pros or cons)?

Thx in Advance

It sounds OK from just about everything, even a Sansa Clip, but will of course reward you if you get a good amp. What has made a reaaly big difference is going balanced, that works wonders..

But I wont say it is Picky

Just realised that a purchase of these cans come with an iFi iCan Amp. Btw, wht are the costs of these over at the US or UK? It costs a pretty penny especially the dx2000 is a limited edition one!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a pair but it has developed cracks in the hinge. How worried should I be about it fully breaking or how much would it be to fix? I read a few pages but didn't find any definite answer

200 $ would by you a brand new set.
I would never pay more than ½ of the new price for a pair with such a fault, but it depends on how much you want it and how much gold you have lying around.

wait wait wait, 200 bucks for what?

Where do you see $750 new to canada?
I'd have to get someone to reship it to canada from japan and it's going to be at least $800?
