HynchSidrick
been using these for about 30 hours now (including 20 hour burn in) and i can sum it up in two words. pretty amazing. its more of a sidegrade to my gr07 but i prefer these babies. the victors for aggressive music and the vsonic for relaxing music. both compliment each other well. the fxt90 have a special kind of bass punch and depth that makes it addicting. pair it with a fiio e11 and you have 1 concert in your ears. no regrets in paying $145 from accessory jack including ems shipping. time for more burn in!!!

Congrats, I agree they're complementary, they're not competing with a similar sound. The only competition there is the price to performance ratio. What's your current source? Due to the FXT90's current requirement, they'll shine with the E11.

Im currently using cowon x7, ipod nano 6g, and my laptop paired with ibasso dzero dac. I have to say there is no major difference between amping. Amping it will just add depth and power but will not change its sound sig. Im so far enjoying these out of any source. Worth every penny definitely

Well, that's because the X7 and Nano 6g are good sources (they're on my list of acceptable sources on page1). If anything, I don't think the dzero may be proper due to the output impedance (I heard it's high, more for big cans). E11 should fare much better than the iBasso.

Not at the moment, but shotgunshane should be able to do it soon, as I'm sending him Joker's pair. They're actually quite similar going by memory, should be interesting.

I've spent a lot of time with these over the last few days.. and remain very very impressed.  They've clearly become one of my favorite universals.

While the shape of the phone might not look like it's possible, I love wearing them over-the-ear.  It's very comfortable & in my case, I found the sound improves immensely (vs. wearing them "down").  I've never had much success wearing phones "down" due the shape of my (outer) ear.  I just couldn't get a deep enough seal since most IEMs' cable/strain relief would bump up against the area at the bottom of my tragus.

While the FXT90 doesn't need a deep seat or seal, I still felt I wasn't hearing them accurately.  The upper mids/lower treble were unnaturally harsh & fatiguing when the phones were worn "down."  I got a seal but it didn't feel like it was deep enough.. the soundstage suffered too.. it felt like sound was leaking somewhere.  Wearing them over the ear afforded a deeper (but by no means ultra-deep) seat and I was able to hear what these phones were truly capable of.

The bass already had excellent punch and definition.. but worn over-the-ear, they gained much more body, depth and texturing.  I can't praise the bass response enough so it must be said again, the quality of bass these turn out is simply phenomenal.  Deep, tight.. and luscious at the same time.  I've noticed there is a very slight mid bass hump (or perhaps a slightly warmed-up lower midrange?).. but it's so well done and suits the overall tuning of the phone that I don't find it offensive in the slightest.  If you've read any of my other posts, you'll notice I have a deep objection to midbass humps (of any quantity).. so for me to hear one in this phone and not find it objectionable in the least is a testament to how well it's tuned on the FXT90.

Like the bass, the mids sounded much more fleshed now that I have a deeper, more effective fit & seal.  Separation between voices and instruments was more easily delineated for me when worn over-the-ear.  The mids have a warm, natural, slightly liquid color to them.  As I stated previously, the upper mids/lower treble was unnaturally fatiguing for me when worn "down."  I don't know if this was because of in-ear resonance or something else.. but that spike has subsided greatly and I can rally appreciate the crisp sparkly of these phones now without the fatigue. Finally, the soundstage sounded complete.  They always had good depth, but the width left a little something to be desired.  With the deeper, more effective over-the-ear positioning, I got better isolation and sealing.. the soundstage width was much more apparent.. perfect in fact.

Despite the low impedance, they pair wonderfully with the mx-1.  Everything tightens up, the soundstage improves, and the phones sound more controlled in general.  I've been listening to most of my phones through the mx-1 a lot the past few weeks and it's truly a lovely amp.

So, what I've found is despite no needing a deep seat, play with how you wear them and you'll be surprised by how good these can sound.

@FlySweep - Thanks for the updated impressions.  I'd say you are now hearing them pretty much exactly like I hear them.

I'm looking forward to comparing the Fischer Tandem with these.  It will be interesting to see if another dual micro driver can deliver the musicality the FXT90 does.  I'll probably be picking up the special edition copper version of the FXT90 when it comes out in November as well.

Man, you guys have me so anxious to get mine, which won't be for at least another few weeks. I can live with that however, since the FX700/e-Q5 keep me rather occupied.

In any case, thank you for all the impressions so far fellas!

As FlySweep mentioned, they do have a lot more depth when worn over-ear, but for me that tab which indicates L/R would dig into the tragus and really irritate me, so I couldn't wear them like that for long periods of time.

I'm curious to hear how the FXT stacks up to the Tandem.  I sense the treble tuning is where the two are going to differentiate most.. with the Tandem going for a very smooth sound up top while the FXT is (comparatively) crisper.

When comparing the GR07 & FXT's sound sig.. the FXT is much more upfront about it's coloration than how the more delicate GR07 presents tuning.  It's quite easy to spot the warmth & smoothness of the FXT.  While those aspects of the sound are mor aggressive, that isn't to say it's ragged or messy.. quite the opposite.  it's an observation for those wondering how two phones that are both characterized as "warm" & "smooth" present those characteristics differently.

I might be getting a chance to hear the FX700 this weekend so it'll be a good opportunity to A/B them with the FXT.

***Added FlySweep's impressions to page 1***

I think the FXT90 does have more treble than the Tandem, while maintaining a similar balance in the mids and lows (by memory..). The Tandem has grown on me it's a very nice IEM all-round in both ergonomics and sound. It's only slightly warmer than the GR07 and maintains coherency throughout the range like the Vsonics. It's approach in sound is actually very similar to the FXT90's but more conservative in the treble, with perhaps a softer dynamic range.

I can think of at least one individual who would truly appreciate your comparison! *points to self*

So I've been using the Tandem and FXT90 on and off. So far the FXT90 has a more prominent treble, you can definitely hear it loud and clear. Tandem on the other hand has a treble that's really soft, really easy to listen to. Vocals on the Tandem seems a bit smoother but more forward on the FXT90. The FXT90 wins in the bass department and also the soundstage seemed to be bigger. Everything on the FXT90 seems louder and in your face while the Tandem seem to be pretty laid back. FXT90 was more fun and exciting for me to listen to but the Tandem was relaxing. The FXT90 was like a good workout in the gym while the Tandem was like chilling, drinking a protein shake and relaxing after a hard workout. Don't know if that makes sense ha!

Anyways I'm still waiting on the DDM2 to compare the 3 dual dynamics, hopefully I'll get my replacement tomorrow.

I too would very much appreciate the comparison!

3 dual dynamics, now that'll definitely be a very interesting comparison! Can't wait to hear your findings.

Sounds like they may be very good compliments to each other.  Looking forward to comparing them myself; hopefully early next week.
