I found the fx700 and fxt90 to have very similar brightness. Not identical but similar. I don't find it harsh but I could certainly see it would be too bright for those that prefer SM3 or Radius DDM treble. To contrast, I don't find it as bright as the EX1000 or the various FAD models.  So its important to know what your preferences are.

Just received mine.

First impressions are great. Really punchy bass, mids on the right level, neither recessed or forward, highs are little harsh on bright music but ok for almost everything. I like the bright presentation, it pairs very well with my sources.

Unfortunately, I've noticed driver flex on both ears. ;(

God, I hate that! It's such a hit or miss with the FXT90.

As per the highs, try experimenting with different tips. I personally prefer the Vsonic biflanges, but to each his own.

I lived in fear of driver flex until I got my FXT90s. Having now experienced it with my set, I really don't understand what all the dread is about...  It's a minor squishy/crackly cellophane noise that lasts all of, what, *one* second when you put them on?  It doesn't happen otherwise.

I could see how people would want to avoid this if it occurred often during use (i.e. walking/running/etc.) but, in fact, it doesn't!

In my case, there was diminished sound in one channel, else I too would have probably held off on the return, since the crackling does indeed doesn't occur after they're in. Still irritating, nonetheless, since it occurred every time they were worn.

Thanks, i2ehan. In fact I like it's bright presentation and the highs. That's what I was expecting, otherwise wouldn't be an addition to my set. ;)

My only concern about the driver flex is the possibility of damage.

And I can't have a good seal wearing over the ear, but it's perfect straight down. Same happened with PL30 and their tips are similar. I prefer straight down, anyway, since I don't need to ground any cable noise. That's not a problem for me.

It's worth remembering, of course, that as we age, we lose our high-register hearing, and that's where sibilance lives.  An 18-year-old is going to be more sensitive to it than a 50-year-old.

Really makes me wonder about the age distribution of Head-Fi'ers haha. 21 here.

Brain burn-in: complete. My RE0s (only other IEM owned) now seem completely lifeless in comparison. Slowly getting used to the highs.

As for different tips, is there a general rule of thumb as to how the different bore size affects the sound, or is it more dependent on each specific earphone?
