Everyone thinks I'm Mr Speakers, but what if I'm really Mrs Peakers?  Just saying...

Cleared customs and on route, might get them tomorrow, woohoo. Bought some plasticine and felt, got the paxmate and dynamat, all systems ready to mod.

Instead of Deoxit, can you use anything like Metholayted spirits etc?

I used rubbing alcohol and it worked just fine.

Gah why didn't I think of that, that's my go-to when I wanna clean my gadgets.  My Deoxit hasn't even shipped yet.

I wonder if de-natured alcohol you can get at the hardware store works better than rubbing alcohol?  I bought a gallon to "go green" by refilling my electric shaver alcohol reservoir instead of paying crazy prices for replacement plastic containers of the same stuff.

Is that a common issue among these headphones? I haven't had any issues with the plug at all or I might just be real lucky..

On another note I've cleaned up the modelling clay inside the baffles on one side and will be doing the same on the other late tonight. I got jealous of how Flysweep has his T50RP :P hopefully when I get my acoustic foam I'll have the same type of precision that Flysweep has. Lastly I'm most likely going to order the O2 pads unless common sense gets the better of me :p

I've wondered the same thing regarding the plug.. I've had no issues, no scratchy noises.

Re: the pads.. I said the same thing.. lol..  The O2 pads have already started to soften so they feel even better on the noggen today.  They're expensive, but you get what you pay for, I guess.. they seem very well built.

Well.. Even then, "you do get what you pay for, but $120-150 is highway robbery imho.. I think the most expensive set of pads the in the world should be 80 or $90 and the Audez'e pads just took a price hike to 80$.

They used to be 50 - more reasonable but still unreasonable. Hifiman replacement pads are 20$ Sennheiser HD 6xx pads are like 55$, and for HD 800 pads-Sennheiser makes you sign over your firstborn. They can get away with it, but it's totally unethical and has a bad reflective effect on society.

Things like this didn't happen xxx years ago, yet nowadays it's all over the world, and to survive one has to do the same thing. It's completely imbalanced.

damnit stop posting about the pads lol :P Pads twice the price of a headphone might be past my sanity level but not sure yet..I do want some much better pads since the stock ones are pretty bad.

I doubt it. De-natured alcohol is ethanol that they've added a poison to, to keep people from drinking it. Rubbing alcohol is usually isopropyl alcohol. Chemically they are different, but in this application, they will both likely get gunk off of the plug to allow a better connection.

..as far as the name, I was thinking "FlyingMonkeyPants".. that just sounds fantabulous.

FlyingMonkeyPants. FMP's. Hmmm, maybe not the best abbreviated moniker, though.

Maybe I'll go with BlueMonkeyFlyer Pants. BMF Pants! Yeah. That's the ticket! LOL

LFF - are you going to rmaf?  with modded t50's?  i'd sure like to have a listen to what you're able to achieve.

Really looking forward to hearing your mods at the upcoming Irvine meet!!

RMAF...probably not....

If I do happen to go (will be a miracle), then I will let people know. I do really want to go though...

That said, I do have some friends who will be going. I'll talk to them about taking my Paradox headphones with them so people can listen to them...
