and now for a picture of the culprit that randomly kills the sound in either channel for many ppl all around the world:
I've got two T50RP's and their springs are rather lazy....there's been many reports of the same problem in that thread. Such a relief when it's bypassed, and it leaves more room for damping too.
The T50 seems out of stock everywhere anyway.
ALO Audio does have just over half a dozen in stock in case anyone is desperate for one, like me. I picked one up yesterday and promptly tore it apart![]()
Joel,
I was trying to use the pad to dampen reflection in the cups, mainly because I do not have any decent wool felt to use as you suggested. Do you have a source for the type of felt that you like to use? You may be correct about the pads in mine touching the backs of the drivers - I seem to be getting plenty of bass from them, although I am not a bass head - I listen to quite a bit of large orchestra classical music and some pop / rock stuff mostly. If I can find some decent felt I will try a piece of that instead. Thanks.
Quote:Quote:This is using the Transpore / Micropore damping with Loc-Tite Fun-Tak damping the back of the cups and the back of the driver baffle, plus a 1.5 inch self-stick felt furniture pad disc at the back of the cup. This is also with the stock pads. I removed the felt on the front of the drivers and opened the vents as well.
Where exactly did you put the furniture pad? That's going to be VERY close to the driver, and might even be pressing against it. I might recommend a sheet of felt for this application instead. What exactly are you trying to acheive with the furniture pad?
