Some things can't be prepared for, but it sure doesn't hurt to try.

Like in the case of those tornadoes recently, all you can do is hope it misses you if you can't go underground.

So hows the radiation levels in the Pacific since this happened? How much is showing up in our food chain?

There's a hell of a lot more water in the sea than is leaking out and there hasn't been any news of weird effects on animals here. If there were the news would be going insane over it. Still, I'm surprised that nobody has gone to jail over what happened.

Isn`t there some law/legal loophole that If a company publicly apologizes in Japan then they are no longer liable? (in some form or something like that).

Locally things were irradiated, but I find it a bit of a stretch to think that the radiation from polluted water could, in significant levels, reach half way around the world.

Well it was 3% more than usual. Whether that's considered "significant", dunno.

As I read that article, it says the leak is still going unabated. How much water is being dumped every day? There were 106 weapons tested in the US held islands between the 40s and 60s. One wonders what the accumulative affect is on the ocean's ability to dilute and what hazards do local livestock carry into the gene pool.

I don't think it's going on unabated, they may have temporarily prevented contaminated ground water from entering the Pacific ocean for now but are struggling to put in place a permanent solution:

Looks like they never had a plan from the beginning. And it looks like Tepco was left to deal with it without the government agency's involvement until Tepco recently admitted that they can't handle it.
