I think this amp looks awesome... I'm tempted... wonder how they would sound with the HD650's. I was a fan of their original ta-20 amp until it developed a channel imbalance. (I had it on for 10-12 hours at a time, probably what did it)

Looks a lot like a hybrid amplifier.
Unfortunately, there is no information on which large tube is in the back, which was probably forgotten because of all the 12Au7 advertising.
Xudoo caps look a lot like a house sound, which might not appeal to everyone.

I don't know.
The T20 is said to have been the indirect Darkvoice clone, or still is.
Some swear by it and also by one or the other product.

I see some progress but it's still not made in the US or Europe.
I personally don't like it when I realise that something is already being covered up in the advertising.
It's already a bit of a sign for me that something is not quite 100%.
I have experienced this so often with Chinese products.
Not every Chinese manufacturer is like that, there are also serious ones that disclose everything.

It's a bit of a shame that Apo's only post here, mainly new products and hardly answer any questions from interested potential buyers.

It was the same with the Ray Tube and they sent this tube set to 2 people who really don't know much about tube amplifiers.
And have tested tube amplifiers in toys where technically, well, how shall we say it doesn't fit for a serious test.
The videos can be found on You tube.

On the product page it states that the rectifier tube is a 5Z4P.

I have mixed feelings with xduoo. On one hand, I love the sound that the original TA-20 produced with my focal headphones but on the other hand, my unit developed a channel imbalance from very very long listening sessions. So, it was good while it lasted. If they use better quality components for the ta-20 plus, I would be interested.

At least it's something new on the market: hybrid with tube rectification and a VU meter. Though it's called "Plus" it does seem like a different animal.

I had a first TA-20 and remember I thought it was broken first time I turned it on. Compressed sound stage, lack of detail, without any apparent warmth. I thought to give it some time for burn-in to see if it got better. I modded it to bypass the input caps and that improved it a bit. Putting bypass caps on the decoupling caps took it up another notch. No room for better decoupling caps unfortunately. I tried to like it, but in the end, I did not own the TA-20 for very long.

This TA-20 Plus again seems to have good-quality parts: I see some Nichicon and Rubycon caps there. Though I already have a good hybrid and won't be getting this TA-22, I do appreciate the novelty of having this tube-rectified hybrid. Will be interested to hear comparisons between this Plus and the original, as far as that's even a fair comparison.

I heard the T-26 earlier this year - it wasn't as good as an overbuilt BHCs running HD-600 but it was still good

the topology is like the DV - construction & parts quality appeared to be a nearly identical or a hair above the DV for those not interested in kit building

If the budget is like $375 for a pair of used cans and hpa it would be tough for fans of classical & audiophile recordings to do better than a T-26 and HD-600

Hi, I currently own the MT-604 and I'm enjoying it with Focal Utopias OG. How would you compare the sound/performance and compatibility with dynamic driver headphones vs the MT-604?
