Those days are long gone. Audeze is actually one of the more reliable brands these days. I owned at least 6 different Audeze pairs and never had a single issue.
On another note, I am late to the party as the 67 headphones are already sold out.
The question is if Audeze really sticks to the promise and won't make more of these. In this case the price of the potential second-hand units will just go up. If Audeze decides to manufacture more with a more simple chassis, that will certainly annoy 67 people.
I'm wondering which amps instead of the Jot can drive them. I have the feeling my Niimbus US4 can give them easily the needed current.
So I would buy only the headphone without cheap Schiit amp.

sold out already ! I guess they will make more in different colors
I can still say my all ribbon GL1200 are among the best headphones I have ever tried - beating Electrostatic and planar by a long shot but the GL1200 can tune the sound with different ribbons by changing them out (silver or gold) tighter or looser ribbon- lending a lighter articulate sound or fuller sound depending on ribbon installed. Exciting to see these R types come out - time and reviews will tell
The fact that Currawong liked them out of the Master 10 should be highlighted.
On another note, this Lichtenberg fractal design is gorgeous and a brilliant idea. This innovation matched with the classic Audeze design which I absolutely love is a very attractive combination.
Haha. I am ok up to 550-600g which seems to be the new aim for Audeze. They already shaved off 100g from the 700g LCD-X with the 2021 design (less magnets).
I certainly start to feel the 600-700g weight after 1-2 hours. But that bass comes at a price. This hobby is all about compromises.
