On my first start up I had a similar issue, i reinserted the charger then removed and then held power button for around 20 seconds, restarted and no issues since

Thanks, I’ll try when I get back home. Likely just a typical android hiccup.

Yep that's my thinking, I've had similar on virtually every android device 😂

I have that intermittent issue two times when I charge up. Once when I had it switched off, another time when it was switched on. Normal android force reboot got it started up with no issues.

No big deal. But annoying nonetheless. @Shanling Pls take note of this bug. Thanks

Taking the M8T for a spin with the Luxury & Precision EA4 10th Anniversary and the venerable MDR-R10. Nice way to spend Saturday morning. :)

Love this DAP. Really versatile and has that wonderful Shanling/AKM house sound which is so good.

My only gripe is how aggressively they neutered Android here. No capping on battery charge. I can't seem to change wallpaper. And when in USB/DAC mode I can't swtich from transistor to tube.

Otherwise - wonderful player with incredibly versatile sound.

I am squared not to find the signature of the M8 even with the tubes modes which seems to sound not that much warm like a real tube sound and it maybe a bit too dynamics comparing to the relaxed sound of the M8, anyone could compare them closely ?

Capping on battery charge would be nice of course. About the wallpaper a launcher like Nova probably would solve the issue.

Any more impressions using sensitive iems like Clara? I'm also wondering if M9 Plus is still the TOTL Shanling DAP despite it being out of production or if the M8T manages to surpase it sonically? Maybe just a different flavor?

I don't have my Clara anymore as it's with a friend but @timeslip said he was picking up on some time of electrical interference with his Clara and M8T.

I can't help with the other issues, but wallpaper change is easy.

Press and hold an open area between any application and a pop-up dialog appears.

Select "Wallpapers".

Select "com.android.wallpaperpicker".

You can choose "My photos" if you've already transferred some photos to M8T or scroll to the right and select one of the provided wallpapers.

After choosing the new wallpaper, select "Set wallpaper" at the top.
The following pop-up dialog opens. I chose "Home screen and lock screen".

The new wallpaper is applied. Success! Enjoy!

Too warm? Too punchy? or Just right? Ive got one coming the end of the week. I loved my M6 Pro 21. Just sold it and picked up a DX320 and the M9 +. I'll shoot them out against each other next week.
Alright, I've got both DX320 and M9 Plus in hand. the 320 has been here for a couple of weeks and the M9+ showed up last night. I know this is the M8T Thread but there's been a lot of talk of comparisons between the DX340, 260 and M8T vs the OG M8 & M9. So just a as a matter of perspective, here's how I hear the M9+ vs the DX320. I would say they are equally resolving, highly technical and very musical. The M9+ takes the 320 and gives it a bit more of a romantic feel. What do I mean? It takes the clean and airy presentation of the 320 and DC Elite and wraps it in a bit of warmth - gives it more note weight, particularly in the sub bass and mids without adding any muddiness at all. For the treble region, they present equal amounts of detail but the M9+ takes some of the sharp edge off. It's clearly a Shanling DAP with the Shanling "House Sound" with a new level of detail and clarity. Now, with everything else that's been written about the M8T vs other DAPs, maybe throwing this in, will help a little in ferreting through what is being expressed as it realates to other offerings.

Yes, I would say the M9+ is still a very relevant TOTL DAP
