FYI, PAW Gold Diana Edition is the current Lotoo model available in North America through The Evolution Of Sound. This new version has higher gain and power capabilities, 256 GB storage, leather protective case, and comes preloaded with high resolution music samplers from various artists.

Anyone want a black Dignis case let me know.

Which one would that be? I am looking for a good carrying case to play the unit while walking around.

I have difficulty understanding the "higher gain and power capabilities."

The data sheet on TheEvolutionOfSound website under Lotoo states for the Diana an output of 500 mW into 32 ohms, which is the same that the LoToo site (and the spec sheets near the start of this thread) state for the original Lotoo PAW Gold (non-Diana).

Joe Skubinski, in this interview at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2016 (4 posts above this one) states that the Diana puts an output of "about half a watt into planar magnetic headphones" (specifically indicating that it was customized for the Abyss AB-1266, which is spec-ed at 46 ohms input impedance, 85 dB/mW).

What, quantitatively, constitutes the "higher gain and power capabilities?"  These would be limited, I would think, by the choice of the headphone amp integrated circuit, which is stated to be the Texas Instruments LME49600.  Was that changed for the Diana?  If so, to what?

This is important to folks such as me who admire the Lotoo PAW Gold, are considering buying it, but are not planning to use it on the Abyss AB-1266.  "Customization" without specification to a particular headphone can imply suboptimization for other headphones, and some numbers and description of firmware changes would be most helpful in allaying this concern.

Thanks!

Does anyone know where we may buy spare charger for LPG? Is buying from vendor the only option (let's at least assume this is an option), or are there third party chargers that are known to work?

It doesn't not have internal memory:frowning2:
Read again: it says that comes with 256 sdxc storage included, that means a basic sd card.
Plus all is the same new firmware adds a +6 dB to the existing power output.
Don't know if new firmware will sound different then normal Paw Edition, when used with other headphones .

Thanks so much... where did you learn that it adds 6 dB to the power output?  I didn't see that anywhere, including on the snippet of spec sheet that you posted.

But great to hear what the differences are.

I recently learned that Grado uses the PAW Gold for their headphone testing and listening and think highly of it.  That has prompted me to get one but I am worried that since they are using the non-Diana version, that the Diana custom version may differ.

Thanks again.

The 6dB power increase was mentioned on the forums.I am wondering how this custom Diana firmware will change the sound per total, considering it was purely designed to use with the new Diana headphone.
However the good Paw Gold may have become even better.
But the sad news is that the normal Paw Gold users cannot manually install this firmware update from what i heard.

For those of us who like to read about our LPG I have added link to two other very large thread on various forums that contains some interesting information. For instance some users trust their LPG so much that they actually modded so it becomes a pure digital transport.

Guys, can we please not refer to a "6db power increase"? That is misleading as it suggests... increased power. This would require a change in circuitry, not just firmware.

It is a 6db volume (or gain) increase.

How do you organize your files, teach me please :D

I have been travelling, so sorry for the tardy reply but others have pitched in .

I find it easiest to start with Genres. Even though my Rock, Pop genre is huge, it is still much easier to navigate that without other genres being mixed in.

My genres on the opening Files Screen of the LPG are Bluegrass;  Blues;  Classical;  Jazz;  R&B, Soul;   Rock, Pop;  Soundtrack;  and World. I created these large and basic genres to keep things simple. So for example, R&B, Soul includes my diminutive rap collection. Bluegrass extends to country like Dixie Chicks. And Rock, Pop is everything from Big Bopper to Beatles to Genesis to Metallica to Depeche Mode and onwards. (I used to have a Folk genre but it is now also folded into Rock, Pop, so really broad.)

My folder structure goes Genre > Artist > Album > Song. In a rare situation where I have a bunch of random songs from an Artist rather than distinct albums, I just create an 'album' called "Compilation".

The key is that you do this with all of your music once on your computer and then you have it forever and just keep adding to it. You then copy it over as needed to the PAW Gold or other music player.
