Signature ist way more flexible. Diablo was not my cup of tea.

That's fair, they were designed to be different

Does it only works with android phones ? Or can I use pc ?

As in, whether GO blu can be used as a DAC/amp witho your PC? If so, then yes. But if you meant whether it can have its firmware upgraded on a PC, that's possible only via BT and software available on Android devices.

Cool. Gavin is one of the most underrated reviewers on YouTube. No BS, straightforward. Dude should have more subscribers.

I'll have to watch more of his vids, but very entertaining and informative work indeed!

That's a fair point. For now I can say that we're seriously looking into making these updates available via iOS and soon we should have something ready.

Not sure what's being miscommunicated here, but these are the release notes that include what changed.

- There was a sleep mode on this device, and it was removed due to a popular request.
- I will double-check for you all on what button this is on Monday.

We don't info dump because it was a common community request for us not to, and we have gone by that since. We will not list every individual change one by one, and I hope you can understand that.

I will also see if we can get this firmware uploaded so there is an option for you all to roll back if needed.
The miscommunication is what is in firmware doesn’t seem to apply to go blu as per who have upgraded. Looking forward to your reply next week.. thanks

Couple of new findings with go blu .. all tested balanced on K10s
  • no channel imbalance at all volume levels or atleast to what volumes I listened to which is 8% to 60% which is very good and expected
  • Details retention at very low volumes, dynamics preserved , bass punch still exists with xbass on. I tested it 8% volume with poweramp player. I use this for listening at night before sleeping
  • Xbass is amazing.. it applies bass punch to only bass frequencies without them bleeding them into mids. This gives close to analog feel. It doesn’t make bass muddy
I am super impressed by the sound the device produces especially balanced. Even though there are some small niggles which a firmware could address this definitely a player you should consider. Did I say how small this thing and doesn’t put any stress on any connections. I never felt so connected to a device since I purchased Sony WM1z few years ago.

What I find interesting about this review is, that it takes the opposite approach concerning the sound signature UP5 vs Go Blue. The consensus in this thread seemed to have been that the UP5 has more details (sounds crisper) while the Go Blue sounds warmer and thicker. Now he is saying exactly the opposite. I haven`t heard both, so I can`t judge. Just it shows once more the relativity in our hobby....

Some thoughts on the potential clip that he and others here in this thread is /are debating. He says the (p)leather loop of the the UP5 case is not as useful as a clip because "it cannot be attached to the clothes". But I feel that really depends on the place where you would like to attach such device.

For me, the loop of the UP5 case works just as fine as a clip, because for me personally, the only place to attach such device that really makes sense is my belt. Why?
- Because only there I don`t have the long cable dangling around and can even hide it under my t-shirt.
- the only reason why I would like to clip it to my upper body would be to use it as a microphone while talking on the phone. But I was wondering: Do people actually really do that? Because there still is no BT dongle that offers a good transparency mode (like some TWS earphones do) and talking on the phone while not really hearing one`s own voice is awful, isn`t it?
- in addition: I almost never wear shirts with pockets or studs, so there is no place to clip it to my upper body anyway. Well, maybe the neck of my shirt, but I find that quite annoying because still those devices have weight that pulls the neck of my shirt down, especially while walking...

I agree though, that iFi should have thought out some sort of attachment...and a clip is in deed very flexible. Another idea would be one of those magnet solutions, that some forum members have figured out by using Ali express stuff!

Well, just my own thoughts....maybe other people have other experiences?

Suffice it to say, we're aware that this stuff is needed :)

Just it shows once more the relativity in our hobby....

It depends on one's reference point, I believe. Although sound signature of most our products is neutral leaning towards warm, they might seem as more crisp and detailed against even warmer competitors.

my blu is good stuff and I am v happy, but why is it not possible to make it easier to switch between different sources, like my PC and my phone. Is this a BT limitation? one more button to cycle between sources would be lovely to have.
BTW, the blue is powerful and makes a great match with planar Sundara, better than blu with Denon AH-D9200.

You have to manually reconnect from one device to another :)

This article says that you may use this go blu as a BT receiver for speaker systems. How? Is there a line out or is it optimal (results in good SQ) to route the 4.4 outs into an XLR ins on a power amp?
  • Can be used as a Bluetooth receiver in a speaker-based audio system

As per manual here:

https://ifi-audio.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/GO-blu-User-Manual_Ver1.04_ok.pdf

... both GO blu's analog outputs are for headphones and there aren't any line outs, but I'll double-check what would be the result of maxing out its volume control.

Just to confirm, GO blu doesn't feature line outs.
