I'm going to feed mine with a Shanling MO. Except, I'm going the USB route.Feeding the BL with coax from Shanling M2
The DAC is what takes digital in and outputs analog. The DAC (such as the great one in the iDSD micro) expects the digital signal (remember that they are all actually analog signals; it's how the information is encoded into the signal that determines whether we call it "analog" or "digital") to meet certain electrical parameters, and it would like to see a perfect signal. Perfection is impossible, so the signal parameters have tolerances, plus or minus so much voltage, rise time, noise, and so on. The i-Purifier takes the signal from the source (computer, DAP, etc.) via USB and still in digital format, and then outputs the same information in the same format BUT the new signal's tolerances are (hopefully) much closer to the ideal than the original signal. The idea is that the DAC will make fewer errors when converting the digital to an analog signal if the data signal conforms more precisely to the expected standard. In other words, the iPurifier takes whatever is input to it (a USB signal) and outputs another USB signal that is identical to the first but that more closely aligns with what is accepted to be a "perfect" signal. The effective result it that turns a dirty, sloppy, ill-timed USB signal into a nice, clean, and well behaved USB signal. So does the I-purifier take digital in and make it into analogue?
@iFi audio A quick question - If i am on FW 5.2 and have no requirement for MQA are there any other added advantaged FW 5.30 would have over the earlier FW

Adding to the above user who left you links, the Purifier, to my understanding, filters out the RFI noise common with a computer’s USB out. The USB in on the iDSD is a digital input, but analogue conversion takes place in the digital to analogue (DAC) portion of the iDSD.

Has anyone had issues with channel imbalance due to reasons outside of the volume pot?
I was using mine yesterday, 2017 Macbook Pro < iDSD < LCD-XC, and the left channel started getting fuzzy. I thought it might have been an Audeze driver going out. However, upon reset it seems that the left channel is noticeably quieter than the right.
I think it happens in Turbo mode only, right?
No imbalance in Eco or Normal mode with my 6 BA IEM.
I had the same issue with O2 amplifier, I was told that it happens with all amplifiers with such a type of the volume adjustment. Especially on the high gain.I'm using Turbo mode so that could be correct. Would you know how to get the channels balanced again?

The imbalance should disappear when the volume knob passes 9-10 o'clock, no?

I assume you have contacted iFi support? That's how things get fixed.I'm using Turbo mode so that could be correct. Would you know how to get the channels balanced again?
