Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Try Klipsch Heresy III.
So far, these are looking pretty good sensitivity and price wise. Do you have personal experience with them being driven out of the TT2?

EDIT: Checked out the Klipsch Heritage series and the Cornwall III seem to be a good pairing with the TT2 as well with their 102 db @ 1watt/1meter sensitivity.

What versatility does those things give you that tt2 won’t- I genuinely don’t know

One thing that I think is genius from it is its multifaceted xlr/1/4"/pentaconn all in one port.

One port serves all the different connectors, that really is a genius idea.

Not with TT2, but 18W is enough for Heresy. Try to listen before you buy it - Klipsch are a great speakers, but they have their own sound signature. Not everybody like it.

I've decided to part with my Abyss headphones and try some speakers now that I'm moving into a larger single family house. I know the TT2 can power smaller more efficient speakers, but does anybody know of larger speakers that are efficient enough for the TT2 that might fill a medium sized room?

I ran Omega Super Alnico Monitors from DAVE (2W) (see review links below) and was blown away. My room is ~20x20'. I wanted something a bit fuller and closer to my B&W 802d3's. I ended up with Voxativ 9.87's with the 4D drivers (104dB sensitivity). For me, I now get all the direct transparency magic and a full range speaker experience, even with the 2W from DAVE (volume gets uncomfortable before the DAVE taps out)

We've run same speakers with my friends TT2. The force and presence is still there, but you do still hear the typical TT2 vs DAVE differences (mainly in depth and spatial resolution). The extra oomph of the TT2 didn't have much of an effect on the dynamics of the Vox's, but it was transformational with the Omega SAMs. The Omega's really benefit from faster/fuller dynamics, and even 5-8Hz more bass extension.

If you're budget constrained, Omega SAMs continue to be the best bargain in audio for Chord DAC owners (amazing amazing listening experience). Louis (Omega owner and speaker builder) is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He does offer a no questions asked return policy (you just pay return shipping). If you're wondering if this path is right for you, drop him a note and I'm sure he'll take care of you.

Bottom line for me: if you're a junkie for transparency and spatial imaging/coherence, the Omega's (~$2k) + TT2 (~$7k) + an ultra fast bass unit like the Voxativ Z bass unit (~@2.5k) is the finest listening experience <$50k that I have heard, and goes next level still when you add a Hugo mScaler.

EDIT: I forgot to give a shout out to Iconoclast speaker cables. If you read Galen's white papers, this is real deal stuff. With the combo of Rob's DACs, Louis' speakers, and Galen's cables, you have a match made in heaven (Iconoclast has a 30 day no questions asked return policy as well...take advantage of it if you're driving speakers direct from TT2 or any other Chord DAC)

Does anyone know of a cheap streamer that can do hires 192khz and doesn't cost a bomb, and will be a replacement for Chromecast Audio, as it's pissing me off when I play anything higher than 44.1khz. I subbed to qobuz for access to hires tunes, CCA says it can do upto 24/96khz, but it's BS, both brand new CCA's have a seizure if I try to stream higher than 44.1khz.

Does anyone have any idea what could replace it, stupid money suggestions not needed.

All I want is upto 192khz via optical and costs no more than say £100'ish , chromecast audio was £20.

Anyone ?

I just want to stream from roon or qobuz in hires without my pc being on. The replacement would be connected to the mscaler and would be independent of my pc.

Edit, I forgot, it needs to be Silent, no fans etc.

I haven't tried this myself for lack of cable/adapter but I think TT2 could drive the GoldenEar Triton 3s well. I tried in the past with my WA5 tube amp which put out 8-10W. The GoldenEar have integrated powered subs so maybe that's cheating but they sounded lovely w/ my little tube amp so I think they would sound great direct out of the TT2 as well.

Cool, I was searching the net and came across this, http://audiolab.co.uk/product-detail.php?pid=27 it's only £450. I haven't heard of them before and have no idea if their gear is any good ?

I will go have a look at those links you posted and see whats up, cheers :)

I don't use either of those streaming services but if I did I would dedicate one microSD to Roon and one microSD to picoreplayer. The "Roon" microSD card will be used when the Mac can be left on to run Roon Core. The "picoreplayer" microSD card will be swapped when Qobuz needed so Mac can be off. The "picoreplayer" microSD card only needs 8/16/32GB which is dirt cheap. The whole OS loads into memory so 8GB is plenty since the OS is less than 100MB to load into RAM. There is a Quboz plugin for picoreplayer. I have no idea of "Roon" microSD card requirements.

Swapping cards is easy once you have swapped a few times. I swap from picoreplayer to RetroPie (games) on a few occassions.

Any idea how much waiting time for tt2 after order ? Has it come down to less than three months ? Some showrooms have reported getting tt2 back. Those who have as already using HMS eagerly waiting for tt2. :)

Hello @rkt31
I have my TT2 basically just arriving from backorder/ waiting list ( yes, the wait is a serious cause of stress and detrimental to ones health. Lol ). I was wondering if you'd like to take this one off my hands as I've gone the speaker / HT route and have no use for a headphone amplifier.

That would of been perfect for me, but it lacks a digital out connection, it only has analogue outputs and bluetooth and airplay, had it has toslink or usb or coax, it would of been perfect.

On the back on them, you can see a black square, looks similar to one of them plug things to keep dust out of a socket, I wonder if it does indeed have optical out built in, but not used at the moment ?

Cheers for the link, it's something like that, that I would like to replace the chromecast audio's with.
