And ?

My car has a 2 on it, its not second generation.

Its called, marketing purposes.

Were talking about Chord, not your car. Chord does not put a '2' on anything unless it's actually a 2nd generation product. Nor would it make any sense to start doing so.

I didn’t care much about introduction of HTT2, but the combination HMS&HTT2 is just great. For me the real deal begins when it becomes portable, even though I like Rob Watts’ kind of portable setup using HMS&H2 with a battery.

That's quite a commitment. I can't imagine bringing my Hugo TT traveling and it even has a 14-hour internal battery built in.

Yes it will work with 9v to 15v. I have used it a lot with 85W/h battery banks, and gotten more than 6 hours listening from it.

@Mrandrade asked me via a PM what bank I used, so I got it out of my bag. It is actually 85W/h, and is Poweradd Pilot pro 2. I have had a number of banks before, this is the best so far as it is reliable and seems well made.

I wouldn't take mine out, going to fit the m scaler on the shelf below my hugo TT 2 when I get it
There's a way to record 0.5 million taps @ 384kHz for $200 and then we could bring those recorded lossless audio files with us when we're on the road

I currently have a Hugo TT. I was planning to move to the TT2. I wonder though about placing the M-Scaler in front of the TT. I believe that will only bring about a half-million taps, but that’s still a massive leap over what’s in there now.

I wonder how TT + M-Scaler compares sonically to TT2.

Someone actually turned off all upsampling and even plain old 44.1kHz at its original sampling rate sounded great via Toslink

I’ve added a Toslink output to my Blu 2 as follows:

A male BNC to RCA male adaptor on the Blu 2’s digital out:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009OARV4K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The following SPDIF to Toslink convertor:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002WSAB8E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have a spare LPS-1 (after upgrading to the LPS 1.2) which I use to power it - 5v/1A

The Toslink cable supplied with the Dave goes from the convertor to the Dave. All upsampling is turned off, so it’s just plain vanilla Red Book into the Dave. It sounds glorious and much better than BNC Blu 2 to Dave. I’m afraid the interface between the RFI generated by the BLU 2 and Dave’s ground plane is a major issue for me.

I accept, this is a rather odd arrangement, and probabably not for anyone apart from an oddball like me. I now have two optical sources into the Dave — the above and and Aries Mini for Tidal, and battery USB, an IsoRegen with LPS-1.2 battery power supply. All sound good to me.

Okay i'm going for H2+mscaler after 12 months waiting my sweet spot financially has arrived to performance. We need 1) to ask chord if they could publish exact details of how to connect the two. Leads, adaptors, best bnc cables etc. Once this has been done would they then sell kits or throw them in as complimentary with mscalers. Not only only would this generate added income for chord it would get rid of the next 1000 questions regarding this and most importantly encourage mscaler sales as a significant number of buyers will be using H2. I will email chord to the effect. If anyone can add to this please pm me or add here. The mscaler thread is due too i think we all agree. I'm actually holding an MA in military history not an Meng in electronic engineering.

Finally for Rob i have three simple enquires. 1) In real world useage would it be 100% safe to stack H2 on top of the mscaler? The concern is to do with heat dissipation and whether the two can be permanently stacked on top of each other.

2) Does using the optical input say from my imac give full upscaling and 1000,000 taps in the same way that usb from a laptop would? If that is true do you recommend usb or optical? Many thanks MK.

3) If using a streaming service with 44.1kHz is it to our advantage to software upscale this to 96 kHz in order to benefit from the full 768 kHz with the mscaler as opposed to 705.6kHz with 44.1 files?

Chord should really just make and sell the proper adapter/cables (or include it with the M Scaler).

In real world useage would it be 100% safe to stack H2 on top of the mscaler? The concern is to do with heat dissipation and whether the two can be permanently stacked on top of each other.

If the Hugo TT2 can be stacked on top of the M Scaler, as shown in product shots, etc. Why wouldn't Hugo 2 be able to sit on top of it?
