This is great. Thank you.
How would you rate Qutest/Mscaler?

With the quest you would have to use an additional amplifier. Not sure if that made a difference, but i enjoyed it more when using DAVE and TT2 bullt in headphone amplifier than when using Qutest with the extra headphone amplifier. YMMV

Two of the greatest minds came together as one, obviously got my best angle which is the back of me! I was just explaining to Rob how he can get a billion taps from his dacs!! IMG-20181027-WA0000.jpg

Now that I come to think of it I should also have mentioned that I kept cross-feed on zero on both DAVE and Hugo TT 2 and the TT 2 filter setting on 1. The differences between the filters are even harder to discern than they were with the Hugo 2 I once owned.

Also, the TT 2 did seem to benefit from a day’s run-in, opening up a little during that time. Any further improvement was too small for me to be sure about.

I’m currently listening to Keith Jarrett’s Changeless Live album. I can see myself regularly agonising over when to listen to things with the DAVE and when to listen with the TT 2. If only you could have the best of both in one dac. But then there is probably some mutually exclusivity with their respective qualities.

It’s just how I imagined it.
I hope you’re wife never noticed.
She was fast asleep on the couch.I was talking to chord s sales manager and I said I'm getting my hugo TT 2 Next Week from nintronics,he said you won't, 300 chord labels or tags were defective so they need to make another 300 so who knows when I'll receive mine.I just wanted to add, Chord themselves don't make the labels, the case work is made by one company, the metal buttons by another manufacture and labels from an other, all English companies so this wasn't Chords fault

No. I assumed the TT 2 was programmed to automatically volume-match when switching between the two. There was no clear difference in volume to my ears.

Interesting. I don’t recall any reference to auto matching levels between gain. @Rob Watts ?

Edit: I’ve just read the manual and have not read anything about auto volume correction between gain modes. The only reason I’d like to know is that the sound difference you report between low and high gain could easily be attributed to louder volume. It just doesn’t make sense that high gain would produce a different sound when volume matched given that low gain would be more than enough for the headphones you listed (TT2 is more than 3x the DAVE in low gain).
