We're gonna need the TT 2 to release first haha. I expect a huge improvement much like Hugo 2 vs Hugo.

Also let me just repost this photo from Headfonia to whet everyone's appetite.

I think Chord DACs are by far the coolest looking, particularly the Hugo 2 and above. All Chord products have an excellent style really.

You know something, I don’t need a TToby, but when my two things arrive, I will forever see them as being an incomplete set, which means at somepoint I will end up buying a TToby for no other reason than making me happy that I have got the complete set.

I wish Chord hadn’t shown the triple setup photo, because I can’t unsee it and I will always know that it’s meant to be a triple set, not a double.

@Rob Watts Any word on the power ratings? Is Hugo TT 2 compatible with both 110V/230V power supply or is Chord going to produce the region specific units i.e. separate units for US and separate for UK?

Yes the doubly isolated PSU (which is 15V 60W) can be used anywhere in the World, with a 2 pin mains input. I guess each region will have appropriate mains cables. Normal use it is 13W power dissipation, but will increase if you are driving loudspeakers directly.

Moon-Audio now has a price of $5,795, which is $1,000 more than the TT. Probably still a tentative price. Before this it had a tentative price of $5,400.

I thought it was £3995, is that before or after VAT? which based on today's conversion is $5,188 USD what's the duty % again??? "I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when...whistle whistle..."

After VAT. Here in the US, Chord products have a VAT called "Bluebird" (I'm not commenting on the value of "value add", just the price of it)

At what point does it make sense to fly to the UK and combine a Chord purchase with a vacation?

I have already planned to go there on vacation with family and US Customs has on its webpage how to import. I'm not sure if there is an advantage but I have begun researching the topic. One statement says local dealer would have to agree not to charge VAT. Identification from US and written statement to dealer is required.

Hi @Rob Watts and all,

I know there’s been lots of experimentation with high efficiency single driver speakers for better transparency. Given the higher output of the TT2, what about driving the “desktop” Magnepan system (see here:
http://www.hifiplus.com/articles/magnepans-mini-maggie-system-revisited-playback-53/) which has 86dB sensitivity and 4ohm impedance? Would the TT2 be able to bring out the best using two bass and two tweeter panels?
While TT2 has powerful outputs, I suspect it’s more suitable for 8ohm 90db+ sensitivity speakers. I would select from either a full range or a simple two-way. Mag is not easy to drive though.
