I ordered some Dynamat online but the seller notified me that it's on back-order and offered me instead the Damlpifier Lite from Secon Skin. Is anyone familiar with this material?

It seems doing step 6 is the simplest. Filling the earcup with fiberloft.

Would doing this have any positive affects by itself. At least decrease bass resonance perhaps and bring the midrange slightly forward?

So any positive affects by itself?
And any negative effects by itself?

I just did this mod to my D2000s and the biggest difference is that heavy bass sounds much more distorted, and sometimes even 'hiccups' and somewhat blocks out all the other sounds during the 'hiccup'. Also, it's a lot quieter than before. Maybe I did something wrong...

EDIT: LOL, I replaced the batteries on my headphone amplifier and the difference is night and day.

EDIT 2: The bass has improved incredibly, I'm not too fond of throwing around adjectives to describe sound, but the bass feels much more 'contained' and it's much easier to notice the miniscule details in the lows besides just the boom effect. I can't directly compare and contrast to what it was like before, but if pre-modded D2000s were an 8/10, this mod makes it a 9/10.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone. I have been reading this thread for a couple of weeks now, and it made me go get some D5000s. I'm still burning them in now, but so far I am loving them. I have the Dynamat, but I have yet to decide if I am going to mod them or not. I'm planning on ordering the J$ pads today as well.

If you have the dynamat Just do it, It's totally worth the effort. Was HUGE improvement for me, Made them the most complete headphone i've heared.
Just be sure to work carfull and clean with the dynamat it's some mean goowy stuff. Oh and i suggest to leave the cups stock as the difference is minimal but the added weight with the dynamat on is noticable.

I used Dynamat inside the earcups because it works really well there. But I used this Parts Express Damping Sheet to make the perforated rings that go on the front of the driver assemblies. It's much easier to punch holes in the Damping Sheet, and I found that the foil covering on Dynamat created some weird high frequency effects when used on the front of the drivers.

I did not placed any damping material in my D7000 cups but I can see how the damping sheet may not work well for that specific application. For all the other ones is easier in my opinion.

Does step 7 (punching all those holes around the driver) make a big difference at all? I have an urge to do it, but I don't have enough dynamat for both sides, and I would have to buy $12 more of it. I did all the other important steps, but I'm not sure if it's worth shooting for the real deal.
