Ok, now I got hold of a pair! Sounds nice I like them a lot. The Senn 650 was no match for the d5000. Sold'em....thought I'd keep'em but no way Jose. The Senns sound dull, boring and uninspired, compared to the D5000 that is

Does this mod applies to D7000? I havn't heard of any mods for the D7k apart from re-cabling...

MACDRU, I went with APS V3 and I love it.

Feather225, Yes the same mods apply. I just put them in my D7000. Basically same result as when I did it for my D5000.

The mods I do now on the D2000, D5000, and D7000 are each slightly different and use different materials. The D7000 doesn't rquire quite as much damping and I use a slightly thinner material than is needed for the D5000.

I'm concerned about the longevity of the dynamat. I've used it extensively in my car, and I can say for that purpose it's great stuff! But how well will this petroleum-based product stand the test of time? I just got a pair of AH-D2000's to replace an 18-year old pair of Sony closed cans. I expect my new cans to last just as long. In ten years, is this stuff going to decompose into a black goo?

Might be like a fine wine, just gets better with time...

Thanks to Markl & everyone that shared their experience with this mod - I applied it 3 days ago and I love my modded D2000! The magnitude of its effect is immense, and the cost/performance ratio simply incredible.
I did not put dynamat on the front of the drivers and I don't think I will, as the bass is now extremely punchy, all the booming is already gone.

Great that you have warned of the burn-in period, I got really scared of the highs at first, even though I was prepared for it to be harsh, but now it's all gone!

Brilliant mod, thanks a million!

No, as the drivers aren't affected, you'll hear the difference straight away...i think thats what markl said ;_;.

Just placed an order hours ago, cant wait

Aahh, the dark witchcraft of audiophile modification...!

I'd take a stab at agreeing with you both: the drivers should be fine, but the vibration of a few hours of burn in post mod plus placing the moded cans on your head would settle all the parts into their natural place and compress the fiberloft etc

Adamora, will you be listening to your new D5000's through your iBasso T4?
