I've put about $700 into the hobby, I'm pretty satisfied with my setup so hopefully I'll stay content for a while

)
Sennheiser PX-100 - $50

After adding a couple of other odds and ends that gives me:

Just the headphones I currently own?

Audio-Technica ATH-W5000 - $740
Audio-Technica ATH-AD2000 - $450
Audio-Technica ATH-5 - $15
Beyerdynamic DT801 - $100

Total - $1305

If I included all other audio gear as well as money lost through resale it'd probably be several times that..

I can't recall all the gear that has gone through my headphone setup, but I'm not a big headphone guy, so I have put together one final headphone setup to end my headphone adventures:

Custom Singlepower SS Amp
Esoteric D-03/P-03
Aberdeen modified Transporter
Balanced Qualias w/ Singlepower adjustable headband
Balanced 650s w/ Silver Dragon
Balanced 701s w/ Black Dragon
Custom Billy Bags headphone rack

Grand total: $50,000

....and yes, I think it is a bit whacky, given that I was able to pick up a state of the art 65" 1080p plasma for only $10K.

Personally I think the headphone system is the better value, even at 5x the cost, but then I only had my 42" plasma for 3 days before returning it.

I've spent around $1100 on headphones and $1500 on sources, amps and miscellaneous headphone related stuff (carrying case, stand, etc.).
