I've been stealthing around this place for several months. Started out buying a pair of E2Cs ($90), got tired of them quickly and bought a pair of KSC75s ($15). Hated the clip on thing so I bought a pair of Sony V-150s ($20) and stuck the KSC75 drivers in them (cool mod btw, despite a small loss in overall audio quality).

Was happy for a while, but I started longing for a bit more. Just ordered the K81DJs ($60) and I'm hoping (well...to be honest I'm praying to sweet Jesus) that this will be my final purchase for a good while.

So in total I've spent around $185 USD. I have to say this thread has appeased my self loathing - most of my friends would never even think about spending more than $20 bucks on a pair of cans.

KSC-75: $11
Koss Holdaphones (2): $15ish
JVC HA-FX33: $20
UR40: $26
EP630: $28
KSC-35: $40
X-Fi Xtreme Mod: $65
Sennheiser HD25-1+velour pads: $198
Headfive #257: $250
UM2: $259
AH-D2000: $290
ATH-AD2000: $500

+Sold items losses: $110 total -- not bad, really
---------------------------
$1812

It should be said that for the most part I have sold other items (like unneeded guitar equipment) to create spending money for this new "hobby"...so this total really doesn't represent the hit to my *wallet*. Instead this total has caused a flurry of eBay activity on my part that otherwise might not have occurred. Out with the old, in with the new.

AKG K701 w/ Black Dragon recable: 550 USD
Grado RS-1: 650 USD
Etymotic ER6i: 90 USD
Koss "The Plug": 13 USD
Sennheiser HD 650: 450 USD
Sennheiser HD 570: 100 USD
Sennheiser MX 550: 15 USD
Sennheiser PX 100: 55 USD

Total: 1923 USD

If I included all my other headphone related equipment (amps, sources) in the calculation it would probably all add up to ~5000 USD.

P.S. This is my fourth post on Head-Fi!

Like me, stick with the less-expensive things and don't get into amps.

Yeah... I tried the amp thing though... I'll probably just stick low-impedence-headphone-cheaper-amp combo if I ever go back up in the $$$. In other words: Grado and <$100 amp.

I'd say around 1500€ so far. That's on headphones. Cables, amplifiers and sources not included.
