I'm not trying to write a bratty post. This is a genuine question. Is it a point of curiosity what others spend? A buyers' enabling thread? A contest? A hobby bonding thread?

Just curious. Thanks.

Curiosity. Plain and simple.

SR-80 $95
shure e3c $110(sold)
HD-280 PRO $80(sold)
Super.Fi 5 Pro $200
DT-880 $200

total $685. Doesn't actually seem like that much though, and I'm about to spend much much more..

Cheap RadioShack headset: $20ish

More cheap stuff: $150ish total?

Sennheiser HD497: $50
Sennheiser HD280 Pro (two of them): 2 x $80 = $160

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro's = $180 + $20 for warranty: $200

Which is a total of... $580. Wow.

In order:
sony whatevertheycallit-71: the one that started this problem
Ety 6 (still one of my favorites)
Shure EC2 (broken now, not replaced)
Grado SR-80 (oh, that's what "airy" means!)
Ety 4P (the jury's still out)
Go Vibe 5 amp (definitely worth the money)
V-Moda Vibes (let's not talk about that...)
Koss KSC_75 (hey, why not?)

I figure I'm up to about $700, but I'm zeroing in on the next jump, which is going to add another $300 or so, or $800, if I can rationalize REAL hard, and just skip right to the end. Going there directly is just going to save me money, right?

Hrmm... 240 + 200 (Pre-Head-fi) = 440

Post Head-fi:
320 (HD650s) + 2x er6is (90 a pop, early adopter) in the early years...

= 500

Then in the last 2-3 months:
W5000s for 745 after shipping
EMU 0404 usb for 200
M-Audio LX4 2.1 Speakers for 261
500 + 745 + 200 + 261 = 1706

In the last 6 weeks:
Qualia/Rudistor RP010 and 3 cables for 4791
Qualias for 3000
Balanced Cardas Smurf HD650 cable for 100
Monarchy M24 DAC for 920 (Sold for 800)
Payment 1 for R10/SDS at 1500

Total: 12,017 Post head-fi... with the DAC sold its down to a comfortable 11,217!

Sigh, 25k before stage 1 is complete

Bose TriPort - $150
Koss KSC75 - $24
Grado SR-60 - $69
Alessandro MS-1 - $75

TOTAL = $318 (In the last 4 days)

---------------------

I bought all those in the last 4 days, Bose from BestBuy, then I found this forum, then went to local RadioShack bought up KSC75, and placed order of Grado SR-60 yesterday from JR.com, then purchased Alessandro MS-1 used from F/S section in this forum.

Everyone asked me to return the Bose TriPort to BestBuy as I got 30 days money back guarantee on them, so I'm gonna do that.

Will try both MS-1 and SR-60, and keep the one I like, and sell the one I don't like.

Now I'm starting to understand why people say, if you need to burn a hole in your wallet, visit Head-Fi.org
