HM-901

Thanks VisceriousZERO,
I am anxious to hear your opinion. I am going back and fourth between spending a grand grabbing a 901 as a premium mobile solution or getting what is seen as a mediocre desktop solution specifically for my LCD2s. However, I have been surprised at how great even my C3/BH2 combo can make the LCD2s sound so I have high hope for the 901.

I hope it will work well also I wont be able to use balanced mode because I dont have a trrs cable for it...

I am using this on my LCD3 with the 901 balanced card:

Have not been able to compare it against a 9018 based desktop rig but I do like how LCD3 sounded out of the balanced amp with the xlr to trrs connector, or out of the discrete amp card on SE. Should be receiving an audio-gd 9018 dac/amp soon and will see how these compared.

Well I was just changing out amp cards and laid unit on face and when I picked it up the front Knob fell off. Tried to snap it back into place and clicks but falls right back off again. Guess it's time to send a letter about getting unit fixed.

Hmm, that is really odd then. Thought they already hammered out all the click wheel problems. Really sorry about that man :frowning2: Hopefully hifiman wont take too long to fix it for you!

If he didn't order and receive direct from hifiman, it might well be old stocks still left in the system.. The classic problem of inventory management..

All USA HM-901s that were first sent out went through that QA process already.

Well if its not a qa problem, I guess it's a design flaw then. Cross my fingers that my own set stays fine!
