HM-901

does anyone know weather the hm-801 trade-in offer is an international offer or is that just restricted to china. Given the fat price tag on this amazing unit, the trade-in offer seems like the only way iam going to be able to afford this beauty. I'm so weary of deadlines. There is always a deadline to any offer, don't wanna miss this one like i missed the initial price reduction on the hm-801! lol

As far as I am aware reading earlier posts it is China only.

It's good to see that the HM-901 supports a good range of file types. I'm a bit concerned though that from the published specs that although 24 bit WAV & FLAC files are supported that only 16 bit AIFF files are supported (44.1 & 48) which is a bummer really since all my files are 24/96 AIFF and the last thing I want is to have to convert my files prior to loading !!

Anyone know whether DX100 or C4 will support 24/96 AIFF ??

hey i have the dx100, it supports aiff and 24/96 files, though my 24/96 files are in apple lossless and in flac and my aiff files are in 16/44, im pretty positive 24/96 aiff is supported on the dx100. good luck researching and finding your ideal dap

can you stream from a server to the hifiman?

No for now. There is however a WiFi module being developed for streaming, though no one know when it will reach the market.

Hi reddragon, after a bit more research the only one I've found so far that can support the AIFF 24/96 files is the AK100 - might pull the trigger on that one if no other options are out there - will check out the DX-100 as well ? Has the DX-100 had a recent software upgrade as AIFF files are not listed in the original spec list?

I wonder if there is some software than can convert the AIFF to Wav or FLAC? I know on iTunes one can convert AIFF or Losless to WAV but of course those are 16/44 files and iTunes does not handle Hi-Rez

AIFF is such an uncommon format (except for iTune) that I'll say it is worth the one time pain to do a transcoding to a more popular codec since sooner or later you will have to face the same problem again on your next DAP upgrade and your library would have grown by then. That means the pain will only get worst.

iTunes can handle hires playback at least, but assuming you're on a Mac, the tool of choice is XLD, the swiss-army knife of ripping & transcoding. If you're on Windows, I'm sure somebody can recommend something similar.

hey i have the dx100, you just have to trust me on it. it doesnt list on their website but i contacted them before, they replied and said its supported. my aiff files also are successfully stored in my dx100 and i can play them with no problem but they dont display the file tag, so for organizing its a problem. however for playback, its not, you can definitely play it on the dx100. i have the latest firmware btw, i ordered my dx100 2 months ago and it came with the latest firmware. however, i must say, my aiff files are 16/44, not 24/96 though 24/96 aiff should work just fine.

...They are being really slow... They only started to ship 901 for the 801 customers who decided to exchange by the end of August last year. The exchanging programme ended like end of November last year. And they promised 901 will start ship to US this month?...If so they will need to come up with 5 batches at the same time.

How many sales have they lost due to this delay?

I got bored waiting and bought a used 801 instead, by the time I am bored of that the HM-1001 will be out!
