I'm sure you'll have fun with the RE-600. It really is a different beast when running via balanced mode :)

I am thinking more along the line of es100 ....earbuds... LoL
If i dont like it, i know a frd who will like to use earbuds and can give as gift

Ooops sorry my bad. Well, sounds like you have nothing to lose! :)

Seems like firmware 2.001 automatically detects album art from songs imported from my iTunes library (native m4a). Nice!

Does TaiJi-2 v 2.001 read embedded album art (like when you use tag browsing) or does album art only show when you use folder browsing?

I am hesitant to install new firmware because then I loose the saved "Favorites" and have to redo these on all SD cards and also because I don't want to "upgrade" to a UI that doesn't support album art.

Hopefully HiFiMan will have a fully functional UI / firmware for the HM-901... which is/was still not the case with the 1.085:

1) Pops/clicks in the beginning of new-selected tracks
2) Cuts off the first half second or so on new-selected tracks
3) Doesn't read embedded album art (except for MP3 files) which means tag browsing doesn't show album art.
4) Tag browsing only working partly (only artist browsing works as intended):
- A) When browsing by album, albums with various artists show up as one album per artist. For example the 6 CD album "100 Love Songs" has almost 100 entries. This makes album browsing useless.
- B) Genre browsing shows all tracks within that category showing all track #1 first, then all track #2 and so forth. Also useless. Genre browsing should let me select the album within that genre that I want to hear - or as an extra option - all tracks within that genre.

Then - for a modern DAP - I really miss a playlist function. "Favorites" will not let me arrange the sequence and only one list is possible. I want to be able to create and listen to playlists. Creation of playlists could be done on computer and then saved on the SD card or it could be on the DAP itself.

Please HiFiMan (Fang Bian) - I hope you read and fix this!

2.001 seems to read embedded album art, although i've only tested with Apple M4a files. I loaded up some songs I purchased from iTunes and it detected the album art automatically. Playback is still an issue with this firmware:

- pops/clicks still can be heard when selecting new tracks, although seems less prominent compared to v1.058 V3
- Songs still appear to be cut off for the first 0.5 second or so during playback

We've been facing these playback issues for a long time now, hoping Hifiman will fix this.

I did. I checked the amp card, it's perfectly locked in place. I have seen some people having this issue, and Hifiman custom service told them to use the normal/balance switch to solve it. This is indeed annoying with the new firmware. No disrespect to Chinese DAPs (I am Chinese myself), there seems to be always some problems here and there.

tupac, I have it as well, pretty bad after a while.
