HISENIOR AUDIO Discussion Thread

I Ordered The Mega Fest on Sunday May 19th. I politely emailed Hisenior to ask about the delivery 🚚 timeframe, as many have said there is a delay. I got a response the same day saying the producing speed for the Mega5-EST is much faster since last weekend. So they would try to arange shipping this week. Today 24th May have checked tracking and is some movement on the Yanwen tracking website.

I've given a lot of thought to tuning over the past two years. My reference has always been the HD600, but with more bass as well as bass slam. Not possible with an open back headphone that I am aware of... plus I just like IEM better than over ear.

I've been through a lot of IEM trying to educate myself on what I like... Hifiman Re400, CCA C12, ... then on to something not budget... so CCA C16, Simgot MT3, Thieaudio L3, TFZ No. 3, Moondrop Starfield, 7 Hz Timeless... never getting close. Usually way too bright.

Then finally a fun and not bright set, HBB Mele. Liking that, I went on to HBB Olina. Not as fun but much more satisfying...but still too bright for me, and when I say bright I mean midrange. Ear gain. Too much, energy with horns, cymbals, snare rim strikes, all irritating.

Then AFUL P5, a mess in the upper midrange... tizzy. Then Thieaudio Hype2... better, very good, but I just wanted more vocal forwardness, less bass, and less lower treble.

After 15 IEM, finally the Canon2, using DD switches. Almost THERE. Bass just right, maybe still a tad hot through the pinna gain area.

Then the Mega5EST review on headphones.com, which made me look at the graph for the Mega5EST vs. my Canon 2. And it finally hit me... LOWER PINNA GAIN is what none of my IEMs had, but the Canon 2 being the closest. Lower Pinna Gain is the secret sauce for the Mega5EST. And probably an accident, but anyway they accidentally nailed it.

So, point of all this... if you have an IEM you really like and it graphs similar to the Mega5EST except for the pinna area, why not just EQ the pinna area down 2-3 db? Which would be 4-6db below Harman 2019 in the 2k-4k region?

I tried this with the Canon2, which is already 2-3 db below Harman in pinna gain, and EQ'd -2db at 2k and -1db at 4k, and an IEM I already like a lot, in its lowest bass setting of down/down toggles, just became more relaxed, more natural sounding. An IEM that graphed without EQ almost identically to the Thieaudio Prestige LTD, now using modest EQ, graphs almost identically to Mega5EST.

i thought about ordering the Mega5EST, but in my particular circumstance I don't want to use any amplification other than iphone dongle and Macbook Air headphone out... so that probably wouldn't be ideal considering the posts on the Mega5EST loving power.

If anyone else out there wants a n easy to drive IEM that can be easily EQ to resemble the Mega5EST, try the Canon 2 and lower the pinna gain through EQ.

After 2 weeks of listening, these IEMs really open up when properly driven. Off dongles, they sounded good but maybe a little underwhelming after all the hype. But with the 320MaxTi, man… all the details and resolution come pouring through, together with all the soundstage gripes I had previously when paired with the Walkman.

Not about volume, but driving power, so no, “it’s loud” isn’t the definition. These may be able to tide me over 2024~ Cya all in 2025.

I'm almost ready for my set to arrive, only the Fiio HS19 hasn't made it here yet.
Should finally get the Mega 5EST tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞

Hey everyone. Someone I ran across says the Variations, Dunu SA6 MKII, X Crinacle Dusk 2, and the Simgot EA1000 are significantly more resolving than the Mega5 est. He also says the X Crinacle Dusk exhibits SIGNIFICANTLY GREATER detail retrieval than the Mega5 est.
I lmao.

Does anyone here agree or disagree with those claims?
The Simgot is NOT a detail grabber. I love them but they a a lush I’m with nice bass and hot treble. Mega5est has better deets

No logo?

I just received mine - they are tough to get a good seal with the stock blue tips. I've switched to Xelastic 2 and solved my seal problem.
Early impressions after listening to the Senn. IE900 most of the day - the Mega doesn't have the same technical chops, but it has an agreeable tuning that should please the consumer masses.

I also received my M5EST today and find them to be a very well-tuned IEM. Instrumental tonality and timbre are realistic and presents the music in a very lifelike manner. Build is flawless and my fit is excellent. I am totally pleased with my purchase!

@M3NTAL & @alchemical
The logo is there, it's just at an angle where it is very hard to see, as exiftire401 also says.

Quite happy with them so far, but I need more time with them, and do some real comparisons to my other sets, before I know how I really feel about them :)

Guess who finally received their megafest today?

Impressions later, but for now, this is definitely a tip-sensitive, and unfortunately for me the wide tips aren't exactly giving me good seal so Divinus Velvet for now.
And second, if you want to do something similar to DMS's ipod-inside-case but you want Spotify, I suggest the Hiby M300.
