well I got them from a fellow Head-Fier, in singapore, but the replacements I got came from Flushing, NY, so if they have a store you could walk right in, but if they ship from there then I imagine if you ordered them right away you should get them pretty quick,

if you call them, you will get Ms. T. aka (Pleasant Lady), she is a super sweet lady, if you talk to her tell her John from head-fi says hello, they're an awesome company to deal with,

hey mephistopheles

reading and discovering the difference between the two, there is  more than the degree of the plugs bend, the 70 degree plugs covers both the older and the newer versions, and looking at the rings it loos like my replacements are the TRS or the unbalanced re262's, and not the TRRS balanced plug, so that would make them the older version, whew! thank goodness, cuz I would have the same issue of not being able to use it without the adapter that I probably wouldn't have gotten? so luckily yes I am able to use them with my pmp

  UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!!

what a difference getting the right seal and tips can make, KA-SWEET!!!!!!! i never new the benefits in sound  having the right tips can produce!!!!!!!!!!!!

well since getting my replacement re262's back, along with an extra set of lrg. dbl. falnge tips, i did the mod of trimming down the tips; first fit i trimmed the outer flange completely off, and cut the inner flange down by 2mm, and may i say what a mod it turned out to be, it really brought out the bass by quit a bit, but a little bit of a comfort fit, so i took the extra set and only trimmed the outer flange completely off, leaving the inner on intact, and may i say SH%T, and what the HE!!, these things are now CRAZY AWESOME!!! FULL, FULL, FULL, KOWABUNGA!!!!! BASS, and a LOVELY LARGER SOUNDSTAGE!!! i'm never going to take these things off EVER!!! since i did the adjustment, I'm in love all over again, these things hold pleasant surprise after pleasant surprise, and did i mention how much more comfortable they are now!!

they are a new animal in my ears gobbling up the soud, like i said HOLY SHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool, I will give this a shot.  So you think the 2nd flange is there for comfort at the expense of SQ, essentially too much dampening?  Just trying to think of why cutting that 2nd flange makes such a huge difference.

yes it seems to be something like that exactly? leaving the smaller one intact and cutting away the lager flange completely, gets the dampening effect perfect!!!!!!!!!!!! who would have thought such a small little thing could have such a ENORMOUS effect? i'm a convert to whatever that might be called,

i'm pretty much a newb to all the terminology and stuff, but i knowz what i hearz, and this mod when done like that seems to fit the bill!!!!! HOLY SH%T!!!!!!!!
darthsmile.gif

well all i know is that on the large dbl. flanges, i cut the lager flange completely off, and left the smaller one alone, in the mod it says to just cut 2mm off of the smaller of the 2 only? but when i originally did that they where still a difficullt fit, so i cut away the larger of the 2 completely (as i read that someone else had good results doing so) and it was a better fit and seal, but there must have been an edge to the cut, cuz it kinda hurt my ears, so with the extra set i had i thought i'd try out just cutting away the larger of the 2, and leave the smaller on alone, and walla!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY SH%T!! so it now gives a litlle move around room for the iem, for better positioning and an awesome seal, and i don't really know what happened but it fits comfortably, and has changed the sound dramatically,

as you can see the top set are the modded ones with 2mm cut away form the smaller flange, nice change more bass, nicer sound, but the bottom set, with just the larger flange removed, and the smaller one left alone, BOY OH BOY!!! huge difference better bass!!! bigger soundstage!!!! and even smoother mids!!!! just a more super filled out fuller sound over all, my TF 10's never got this good, and the re262's fit and fit and fit, i go out walking the dog and i never had to adjust them once!!! the TF 10's quite a bit, got used to it though, and i thought those where the bomb, not any more!!! these 262's are quite nice if i do say!

I think the main question is "are you happy with it?"

We can barely tell if you're excited.
I have some bi-flange tips coming in from Head-direct so this is all good timing.

I'm really itching to get one of these, but after reading some people's complaints on how RE0 breaking on them
after a couple of months use, I'm having second thoughts.

This will be a major upgrade for me, plus I'm a college student so yeah... I don't have a lot to spend

I've had my RE262 for almost a year. I'm not reckless with them, but I don't baby them and they are still good as new. Very durable.

Hey Anderoan, I tried the mod and didn't improve anything for me.  The un-modded double-flange tips work best for my ears.  So in the end, people should do their own individual experiments to see what works.  I was able to do side-by-side comparisons.  The mod made it easier to get to that correct fit but at the cost of some environment noise isolation and snugginess.  Un-modded tips, it may take a second or two longer to find the correct position but I get the same sound quality as with the mod while keeping the isolation and snug fit in my ear.

Also, take into account initial impressions.  My initial impressions w/ the unmodded tips was like your feeling with the modded tips so I was good from the get-go.  However, if people are initially underwhelmed by their 262's then try the mod, you then can be overwhelmed like the rest of us.  I never get tired of these 262's.  Still don't feel any upgraditis with the HM-601 + 262 combo.  I would like to demo the 272 but hard to justify forking over the $249 when the 262 are still kicking strong.

I keep mine in my backpack side pocket with no protection or hard case.  I use them everyday in my portable set-up.  No durability issues yet.  Treat yourself.  The upgrade will make studying that much more enjoyable.
