The soundstage struck me as rather large and "airy" ( for an in ear) as well, been to loing since i really listened to my re400 that i had to compare them, But i felt as if i gained quite a bit going from 400 to 262. How are these with the O2?

They do surprise me as being airy.  Although, I had another listen with O2 amp and got a bit ahead of myself saying they may have soundstage portables like amperiors.  (Although close)  Probably they sound more open over 400 because of that open vent on the back of the 262.

no comparison whatsoever with re400 , imho

especially when amped , these are in another league sound/stage - wise

i wish hifiman would bring these back

Theyve been getting rid of alot of good hps. Happy that i have the 262 and he4, theyll always be unique, and i have pretty little matching terribly made boxes for them.

I hope this thread isn't dead yet....
My RE-262's cable is 'falling apart'. This is my 3rd pair of RE-262 in 2 years (flew to ShangHai to get them fixed). Therefore I am not very fond of their BQ.

I would simply be interested whether anyone has any suggestions on how to fix it (at a reasonable price). BTG Audio explicitly says on his website, that he doesn't fix HiFiman iems.

.

Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. I contacted VesperAudio in Russia for pricing and handling info.

It seems that they also do repairs (as opposed to complete recables).
The RE-262 wasn't very expensive to begin with, so spending more money on only the cable seems ludicrous to me.

I'd spend around 80 to get them recabled, only because they're disc. these things would just last forever then. I love the signature though, I wouldn't have paid to get the re400 recabled.

vesper audio told me that he has a cheap standard cable and 2 non standard (medium/expensive) ehich supposedly improve the sound

don't know why but if anyone is thinking of recabling , let us know how the sound changed

Do you guys have any experience with VesperAudio and their services?

there are a lot of good reviews on their site so they seem legit - if my 262 break down i will probably have them recabled there

speaking of the 262 - its soundstage is simply incredible....hifiman produced a soundstage beast here
