Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

It’s been posted before by some others as well:

On the hifiman website, though I haven’t visited it for 2 or so weeks there is the:

he1000v2
he1000se
he1000 stealth

that is it!!
Simple. It might sound crazy what if we followed that? That would help newbies to these offerings.

additionally:
the very first release was the he1000, which in hindsight is referred to as the he1000v1.

the he1000 stealth WAS for a short period of time listed as the “he1000v2 stealth edition“ by hifiman but that has since been changed to the he1000 stealth on their website now.

ps: “1000” can be replaced with “k” as per universal practice. Not “x”, but “k”. The Hifiman HeX was another (series of) headphone. it is not the HeK (in any form)

anyway, all the best

You do mean the HE1000V2, correct? If yes, maybe it's your upstream gear making causing the "brightness"?
I've never experienced any brightness with my HE1000V2.
Yes, it’s the V2. I’m using a Wiim Mini going into a Schiit Bifrost 2 and an Asgard 3 for the amp. Going to switch to the LYR+ soon, not sure how much difference that will make. I find EQing the 3k, 6k, and 8k regions down a bit helps.

Maybe it's that Schiit gear you own? Totally kidding.
I've owned my share of Schiit gear, and still own the original Magni/modi combo for my desktop use and love the synergy I get with some of my headphones. In the past I've found that Schiit amps/DACs can be slightly sibilant to my ears.

You know it might be the Schiit gear, but I’ve gone out of my way to only buy their dacs/amps that people describe as generally warm. When I use my Topping G5, I find that the V2 is brighter with that.

The thing is "those people" are most likely using different headphones too.
I've never heard any Topping gear. Are your V2 new?
HiFiMAN recommends 100hrs burn in.

The He1000v2 is extremely sensitive and dependent to every component in the audio chain.
My audio chain is neutral warm, hence I never found the He1000v2 to be bright.

The amp and DAC made the biggest difference but even an USB cables change ( i.e. Supra vs Oyaide ) can easily be differentiated.
Even a power cable and interconnects made a subtle difference.

Had the Lyr3 awhile back. It paired quite well with the He1000v2 with certain tubes.
Enjoy.

I bought them open box, so not sure how many hours were put on them before. But I’ve probably only put 30 hours on them so far.

Any tubes you can recommend?

The Kenrad VT231 were my favorite.
Warm and bassy. Pricey tubes though.

If you like bright / more treble energy then, the Tung Sol 6sn7gtb. Relatively inexpensive as well.

If you guys haven’t tried pairing your HEKs with some tubes. I 100% suggest you do at your leisure.

Tubes here!
I always appreciate system pictures. It's really interesting seeing different configurations to gain a general idea of what's popular (or selling). But it's even more interesting to see the configurations of people that have been on their pursuit of sound for a long time and practically get a TLDR version of it.

Would like to see your system if youre down to share.
