More translations from the boss-

-The China market is mainly made up of the low to mid-fi: people using opamp-style amps, not real discrete amps, to power their headphones. So their philosophy has to include not only 'the best sound', but also, 'easy to drive'. He says the Flagship will be their one exception. It's to show how good they can really get- that's not for making money, especially not in the China market.
-He's not a fan of Stax. He makes frequent comparisons to the 009- it's clear that's who they're gunning for with the HE1000. For example he says, on the 009 you can't hear the double bass. The cello sounds like a viola. The low ends have no energy. He laments how the audiophiles in China have only heard the ethereal sounds of the Stax, and not 'real sound'.

Interesting stuff.

The boss - Fang???

Trying to read between the lines of the bold..  I'm assuming the H1K is not particularly easy to drive?   Or am I off.

That EF1000 amp is huge with many transistors so it must not be easy to drive. That's why he separated the power supply, if not it would have been even bigger.

The translation states

EF1000 using split tube headphone amplifier and SRPP line, six pairs of transistors connected in parallel to provide 8W Pure Class (A?) thrust, allowing users to exposure to the music world as immersive.

I found this other translation of the EF1000 specs.

Matched with HE1000 is EF1000 split tube headphone amplifier uses SRPP circuit, six pairs of transistors connected in parallel, when driving headphones provide 8W Pure Class thrust, while pushing the speakers provide pure Class A 50W, 150W pure class AB . Both the price were not announced.

It is a speaker amp, that power rating (class A 50W, 150W AB) is probably @ 8 Ohms. But for the HE1000's impedance it is 8W class A

.
That is more power than FirstWatts F2J, 5W @ 8 Ohms.

I take comments like that as a shot in the foot, one's own that is.
The double bass lowest freq. is 31hz.
A search for SR009 frequency response charts will show that is has no issues at all to transmit low frequency even below that.

Who ever "the boss" is, he disqualified himself, either purposefully because of marketing reasons or he has a hearing damage and shall contact the nearest ear nose and throat specialist for an appointment.

Is the H1K rated @ 50 ohms?  Are they saying 8W into 50 ohms?

The problem with subbass is that it is very much related to quality of seal (which can really vary from person to person and situation)... Frequency response charts are often better than the reality in terms of how good the achieved seal is (not always but take into account hairs, glasses, shape of your head, exact positioning during each listening session etc. and you get the point).

Lol, I don't think Dr. Fang disqualified himself.

I'm very interested to see what's next for hifiman with these headphones. IMO, the HE-6 was a league better than the T1, LCD-2, and HD800. I think this could be a bit of a game changer in the high end headphone market, if it's not priced too high. Also, saying it's "on par" with the Orpheus is a heavy statement.

I also agree with Dr. Fang saying that the Stax sound almost "ethereal" and don't really have a life to them. No weight. I'd love to see something between the Stax and HE-6.

Only if it's a five string bass, or has a drop-tuner to go from E (40 Hz) to B (30 Hz)

Very few recordings go down that low, and double bass sounds like mud in most conditions at that frequency.

While we're at it with blanket statements, there's no ortho phone out there that has the speed of an sr009, couldn't even dream of approaching it. Because of that, people turn the argument around and call it ethereal sounding. Go listen to a 009 playing acoustic bass or electric bass: these are just bs blanket statements often made by people with an axle to grind against stats else trying to push an alternative.

As for blaming it on the pad, actually the 009 seals the most easily of all stax phones I have tried, pretty difficult to mess up the seal there I'd say. No: I think it's just easier to sling mud at something you want to compete against... And it happens more often than not actually.

Now, I am curious about the HEK, it's just freakingly huge and seems very open, I bet there's some sounds coming out of it :). I have never been too impressed with hifimans phones, but thats just me as the only orthos I've liked to date are the Oppo pm1. It's always good to see new contenders for the best of the crop and hifiman is quite motivated to release a statement product so these are exciting times.
