I've always had this weird fetish dream you see.... a pair of headphones.... fed by a pair of monoblock speaker amps....

Baby steps... with monoblock headphone amps (which probably have enough juice for speakers anyways)

If by socket you mean the connectors, then no it is relatively easy. Just be careful and snip the wires before you unscrew it from the headphone or else you will will pull them off of the drivers which could potentially damage the driver. The wire leads soldered to the driver are solid core so they are quite stiff and brittle, treat them with care and you can solder your wires to them. Otherwise you will need to disassemble the driver from the cup to to get access to the solder joint at the driver, which is a PIA (I know because my right ground was snapped off at the joint and it took an hour or more to take the driver apart re-solder and reassemble).
Good luck

Yes, that's what I mean. Thanks for the explanation. Will probably fix it tomorrow :)

A pair of Nuforce HA-200. They can be used as regular amps (with RCA input and 1/4" output), or as monoblocks (XLR3 input, XLR3 output).

If memory serves, members slinging mono blocks for the HE-6:

- Happy Camper
- Armaegis
- Silent One

Perhaps, a fourth or fifth member that escapes me at this writing...

Has anyone tried the HE-6 out of the NFB 28 balanced. Will this be able to power the HE-6 to an acceptable volume (not talking about to earsplitting volume or its "maximum potential")

NFB28 can drive a HE-6 without problem. You do not even need to set High Gain on if your source if loud enough.

If you're a Pendragon fan, here's an instrumental of "Paintbox". The second is with vocals
