    Occupation:
    Engineering Stuff
    Interests:
Computers, motor-boating (small alu ones), mountain-biking, hiking, kayaking, films, philosophy...
    Headphone Inventory:
    Current:
    ######################
Sennheiser HD800 (my #1 headphone, hardwired with pure copper cable + many other mods)
Hifiman Edition-X (Velvety soft with grunt and soundstage, not as detailed or big as HD800 but very pleasant)
Sennheiser HD650 (still great, but less used after I got the HD800s properly setup...)
Sennheiser HD590 (the one that started it all, kept because I'm a sobbing sentimetal git)
    Sennheiser CX-300 (gym division)
    Shure 215 (audiobook division)

    Gone:
    ######################
Beyerdynamic DT-1770 (with mods and eq it's surprisingly good, close to HD650 in fact. Not bad for a closed headphone)
Philips Fidelio X1 (Exceptional value for money, but not a "reference headphone" like the HD600/650/800)
Beyerdynamic T1 (not bad but... not amazing)
HifiMan HE-500 (sounds good no doubt, but less comfortable than HD800 and the soundstage can't compete)
Sony XB1000 (good entry level headphone for basshead, however the HD800 with a +2/3 dB bass boost shows it how's boss)
DUNU DN-1000 (nice value but too much bass for me)

    Tried:
    ######################
HE-400S (doesn't scale like the HD600/650 but you won't find better sound for $300)
AKG 701/702 (not bad... but not amazing. And not much meat on the bones either)
Audeze LCD-2/3/X (Impressive. Smooth and powerful. But I prefer the soundstage and comfort of the HD800)
    Beyerdynamic DT990 (Meh...)
Denon D2000/5000/7000 (The D7000 is a good closed headphone but can't compete with the best open back ones)
Grado PS1000 (Dire Straits is pretty amazing on this one, as is any rock-n-roll. But I need more than that!)
Sennheiser 598 (Excellent entry level headphone, if a little thin sounding compared to the $300-500 bracket)
Ultrasone Pro900 (good basshead headphone, tighter than the XB1000 if that's the way you like it)
    Headphone Amp Inventory:
    Current:
    ######################
Balanced DNA Sonett with upgraded tubes

    Gone:
    ######################
    Violectric V200
    Audio-GD Phoenix
    Burson HA-160
    Source Inventory:
    Current:
    ######################
Theta DS pro Gen Va (Now this one is quite something..)
Anedio D1 (a stunning DAC... love it!)
Creative ZxR (best gaming sound card)

    Gone:
    ######################
Chord Mojo (ok mobile dac, can't compete with good stationary ones)
Gumby (probably the best new DAC in the sub $1500 category right now)
BMC PureDAC (Superb all-in-one unit, the inbuilt amp is world-class SS)
Meridian Explorer (my choice for a mobile solution. Pairs nicely with HD650)
    Cable Inventory:
Mostly home made with mogami pure copper cable and neutrik or viablue connectors.
    Other Audio Equipment:
    Whiskey
    Audio-Related Tweaks:
RPGWiZaRD is a genius! Try his Foobar2000 mod.

    Music Preferences:
Pretty much anything except rap and country. Special love for electronica and anything that lets an artist's raw talent shine through.
    Gear-Fi:
Custom built rigid titanium 29er with full xtr and carbon wheels.
