through simple Ohm meter through stock cable in both xlr and 1/4 jack.
Technically what I measured are DC resistances including the stock cable resistance.
There are some 10 % tolerance over there.
I didn't remember those exact measure.
I can poste again the measure if you like.

I just wanted to remind you that the impedance is measured with AC signal and can not be measured by a multi meter, and yes you were measuring the DC resistance. I am not sure about the 10% tolerance.

I have the Hifiman wood veneer cup, 2.5mm plug version of the HE560 and I really enjoy their sound. To me, the mids and treble of the HE560 are similar to Shure's 1840 with a fuller bass.

He-560 has enough potential for any upgrade path and can be aligned with.
I have hd-800 that has more stable treble but my usual phone is he-560 because it has fuller bass and it can be easily transformable to another sonic character with other ear-pads replaced.
Also I had th900 which has recessed mid and hence lacking some tonal density, whereas he-560 has more balanced with enough both extensions to high and sub-bass which is not exaggerated.
Compared to my previous he-6, which made me miserable to take its own upgrade path with lots of money, but he-560 has good enough for having planar sonic world that has some times surreal treble with incredible speed.
This satisfaction comes only for 230 USD!!!
With adorama, regardless of V2 and V3, they are very satisfactory for far less money.
Beyond he-560, you will meet highly non-linear world of satisfaction to what you pay for, and may have contrite heart.

Hi everyone,
I've had my HE 560 for close to a year now. Though I really like them, upgradeidis is kicking in again. So my question for you guys is this: Is the Ananda or Edition X a significant upgrade? Or should I just be happy with the 560?
Previous cans were LCD 2.1, Beyerdynamic T 70, and DT 880, Grado Rs 1s, and 325is, HE 400i, and a few others. I will mention that to me the 560 blows all of them out of the water. IMHO
Parasound zdac and WA6 are my dac/amp of choice.
I know that bang for buck the 560 is probably one of the best out there. I just want to know if the previous mentioned is worth the upgrade cost.
Thanks for your insight on this matter.

Bang for buck he560 is still a beast even now. Id say if u r budget conscious, diminishing return will hurt u real bad if u want to upgrade though.

Give this fella a pint/glass :)

@housekrl if your budget covers Edition X, then try / buy the Arya. It's a great headphone, was a clear step up from my modded 560 & Elex.

I appreciate that thought. Funny thing is, when I bought my he560 I liked it so much, I immediately bought another. My "spare" is still in my closet. And even still sometimes when I'm listening tears come to my eyes. No other headphone has evoked so much emotion.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I would have to save for quite awhile for the Arya.

Selling the spare 560 from your closet might accelerate that :)

Oh yea, your right. Why didn't I think of that? This hobby! Why can't I just be happy with what I have? I'm always wondering; How good can it get? Lol
Where does it end? The madness!

@UsoppNoKami. So now I'm wondering; How is the Arya compared to the he560?

The Arya is based on the HE1000 series, IMHO it has a much better sound stage than the 560, better bass and tonality, avoids the std 560's treble peaks and is smooth and balanced with a bit of warmth.

I also did some A/B of Arya vs the HE1000v2, Arya has a little more bass but a touch less clarity than the HE1KV2, and the latter could do with more kick in a direct comparison .

So I ended up with a HE1000SE. It never ends, this rabbit hole...

Sounds pretty much perfect.
Btw, heck of a nice system you got there. Would love to hear it.

I've sent mine (brand new, just a rattle in one coup) on July 11 and they sent a new one on July 27.
I'd say taht you just need to give them few more weeks, after all...they really are out of stock, right?
The HE-560 are simply too good not to wait for the repair time.

Used 560's are not getting a lot in terms of used sale prices - given the price of the latest version, how many are out there, and the seeming never ending stream of HFM's.

The HEX V2 is a better can IMO than the 560, but different in that its a bit warmer and more forgiving. It also has a wider soundstage and produces more detail. Used it can be had for $650-750, and even in 18 months it should hold around $500.

The Ananda is closer to the 560 IMO, so somewhat more of the same. Some are showing up used at $700-750. It also should hold at $500 for some pretty long period so you could buy it, own it for a year and just pay a fairly small "rental" fee.

Haven't heard the Arya, some say that it's closer to the 1000 V1 than V2. Dunno. But I do surmise that a year from now used prices will be under $1k given the slide on other HFM products. Look at the 1000 V2 - quite a few going for $1650-1800 lately, that's a big slide from list.

I did a search and got no results, so I guess I'll ask! Anyone tried the Hifiman Pali pads yet? I'm really curious how they compare with regular focus pads in terms of comfort and sound.
