It is a planar not an electrostatic.

One of the most intelligent reviews of HE-560 I've seen... I'm due to receive mine soon (via LH Labs Geek Pulse bundle) and can't wait to hear them. 
 
It seems more and more greatness is being found in Sennheiser HD800 due to its outstanding scalability. 
 
Any views on HE-560's scalability?

Very enjoyable and detailed review!
 
I've had the 560's a week and I have to say they may be my favorite headphones to date.  Best $556 I've ever spent on audio.  ($695 Headroom demo pair only used for photos + 20% New Year code = $556!)
