Jerg has just added and excellent review ( comparison between 560-500 ) on the first page by Justin_Time . Spot on !
Why can't we just combine the two into a super-pad LOL.
That was going to be my last line of my post too.!! Ha... The super pad to end the debate...
+ 1 . By the way , which pads are you using ?
The ones that come with the production 560's.
You can always EQ 3db or so more sub-bass (60-20hz) on the HE-560!
Hell if I know. I've always just used the EQ on my iTunes for real simple EQ. If the headphone needed substantial EQ then I got a new headphone.
So far I don't need to use EQ with 560 (focus-a pads).
Boirefish, very nicely put - what a great way describing the two hp's with a family timeline analogy!
The more I go back and forth between the 2.2 & 560, I consistently wished for the 2.2 to have more of the upper midrange and air as in the 560. With the 560, to complete the package with my ears, I only wish that it has more of that syrupy lower midrange, larger dimenionality of perceived image (fuller with more "meat"), and perhaps a touch more subbass from the 2.2. If these two can merge into a sort of hybrid, that would make my day!
Now I get why it is so damn heavy...and dark sounding (hearing loss) ...
Yep, they changed their warranty. My original HE-500 was purchased used from a Head-Fier (2nd owner), and its manual/pamphlet says three years. So it goes.
Since you have both, if you had to choose one or the other, which would you choose? The weight alone makes the HE-560 very tempting.
I like the comfort and sound of the 560 so I am keeping them I am going to sell my 500s

Thanks for confirming my choice
Like at this point you really needed convincing.
