Borrowing some photos of the new HE 560 and HE 400I from the Chinese forum~

That picture looks waaay better than what they previously had of the new 560.  I like that wood better-- I guess it's still teak wood but in a veneer now.  Also it looks as though the pads are matched to pairs now, as they have matching seams.

This is all very confusing, so the Hifiman folks posted that they'll be using ebony wood veneer (along with those early photos), then suddenly there are these photos with a teak (?) veneer instead.
 
Did they change their mind again and are now going with teak veneer?
 
Or maybe they'll offer choices for different kinds of veneer?
 
Is anyone going to the Newport show here, and could ask Fang in person to clarify?

Totally agree, I find the teak wood veneer to have better synergy with the rest of the headphone.

From the picture it seems like they now use a different veneer? Maybe teak wood veneer? To be honest, none of us is 100% sure until hifiman reps confirm with us. =D

I would be very very surprised if those pics were anything other than older photos. I'll bet a dollar to a dime that nothing changed and that the veneer cups are still a go.

No. I'd be very, very unhappy.
I could give a rat's ass what kind of veneer they use as long as the headphone is structurally stable and I don't have to ship it back and forth

They (really) don't like when people call it Jade 2 because it isn't technically a Jade 2, and they're aiming for it to work with Stax-compatible amps last I heard but don't quote me on that.
