Head-fi retirement is even more of a joke than retirement in professional sports. There's always a RMAF or Can Jam around the corner.

A bit oftpic..but ayone in europe interested in a jerg pad modded (by modulor), grill modded he500 thats bought last year in oktober at madooma.de? (Pics in my profile) I am thinking bout getting myself a different phone..
Price is 600euro excl. postage in europe and paypal fees.. U all know i care about my stuff like they are my kids... So its nobrainer!

for europeans this is a excellent deal..especially because its modded (original cable never used and its with the better carying case..not the bulky rubbish jewelery case)

How does the HE-500 compare to the Stax 507- that's my budget range for headphones. I am looking at either Woo WA6SE/GES or a Taboo MKIII. Music- classical, jazz, ambient. Any issues with fitting a large noggin into either?

You might have a hard time to fit your head in the amps, else no issues

You should probably stick with some other model than the 507 unless you want to pay premium for leather pads and another color... In general the current Stax line-up is pretty bright sounding. The HE-500 isn't bright... Also, most think the best Stax stuff is to be found in earlier models/vintage.

IMO, if you're looking for something between $600-$1k, i would snatch up a used HE-6 and a $500ish speaker amp. TBI Millenia comes to mind. That is the best value ticket for Summit-Fi admission around. Excellent combo for your tastes in music too.

And i agree..in that price range only two phones come to mind..a he500 or he6 second hand..
Ampwise.. Well..let me stay quiet on that one..as most of u guys know what i advice u til around 700usd for the he500..

14) Dude goes DIY and enjoys the "journey" of Head-Fi, realizing there is no end game, but it sure is fun to create gear that is specialized to his purposes.
15) The End?

14) can be an amazing journey.  Start as a devotee of one builder/style, move to another, and another and another....  And with bleed-through to other aspects of life, too!

15) The End... Nah .... Return to 11 and start again!

I dont think there will be an end..i think when u start finding out ur sound gets better all the time u go on and on...

Until ur wallet or ur wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/husband slaps u so hard u wake up from ur coma called audioupgraditus and see what u have done to urself and others while seeking for that one perfect rig..just like the perfect woman..those dont exist..but until u tried all.. U wont know how close u came..and for some thats worth the trouble u get into when u totally go overboard with ur rig.. :D

In reference to money and time and life wasted away, you mean something like these audiophools?

I have no idea why I have already watched this...a few funny moments in there for sure.

EDIT: It's all really funny. After watching for two minutes, just remembered why I watched this in the first place.

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a HE-500 to replace my HE-400. I love everything about the HE-400 apart from the recessed mids; the jerg pad mod and regrilling mod have helped heaps and made them a lot more enjoyable to listen to but I reckon I would be a lot happier with HE-500. So I'm just wondering if my WA6 will drive them well enough? It handles the HE-400 well so I'm used to hearing that well driven. Cause I love the sound of the WA6 a lot I plan on getting the SE version eventually but I'm not sure when that will be.

If no one responds, ask DubstepGirl...she has the HE-500 and a bunch of Woo Audio gear, with which I always end up mixing the names.

OMG ... Did i hear 250.000 euros? And did u see the reaction of all the wives?? They all said that he lied about prices.. Where did i hear that again :D
Seriously..this is in greece..a country in crisis...i am now wondering what kind of stuff audiophiles in eastern asia (oil lands) have..like the ones who owns 6 or more ferraris (at least..lolz).
Well found! I smiled a lot..am glad am nowhere near their craziness... but i have to admit i am already telling my wife prices who are not really correct :D

yep..she is the wa2 specialist..and the wa22 specialist..well i she had almost all wooamps until now..except the extreme wa5..lolz..

Pm her..ask nicely and she will respond honestly..

but my own personal experience with the wa6 i heard for about 15 minutes with my he500... I felt it lacking in power..the he500 sounded light and was missing something.. Compared with the 337 i had it was a big difference... 337 was better in driving the he500...and in same price class..
Better save some and get a stronger woo amp..or a 337 or a lyr.. But am sure dubstepgirl can explain better.
