HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

If you've got a pre amp you won't damage your HE500 hooking straight to the speaker terminals. I can max out the volume terminal for the TP60 which is similar to the Emotiva at 50w into 8ohms. It gets deafening loud but nowhere close to breaking

well I checked the HE 6 Thread, and the Audio GD NFB 10ES got a big YES, so 6w into 50 ohms should be enough

which means, Amp wise I should be set to try all the HE cans! [Balanced ofc]

I hear about the emotiva like no bodys buisness

SO do we think the Audio GD 10ES2 at 6w into 50 ohms [balanced out] is enough for an HE 6? and will that extra current help clean up an HE 400?

NEver heard that amp..but generally the he6 is quoted as minimal 5watts into 50ohm, best is minimal 8watts into 50ohm.. But more important is the current it can provide with the more dynamic tracks u play...

More important..just try amps out...only way to be sure if its good for a he6 is to listen to various amps or like i do now..let a respected specialist make one (preferable balanced) for u from scratch with only one intent (and specs): to drive a he6 to its fullest..but that will cost ya a pretty penny...trust me i know as my wallet hates me now!!!

Don't even want to know how much you paid for urs q.q

I might still try it, as getting an HE 6 is a LOT cheaper than buying the next Step up on audio GD amps [power wise] I think the NFB 28 is 8w into 40ohms, iwhich would most likely be ideal for the HE 6 but it cpst about $200 more... which isn't bad just could NOT afford it this time around... still I guess I'll grab the HE 6 then get the NFB 28 shortly after, then after that the next step up is around $4000 for a dac and amp :x

But I think the NFB10ES2 will hold me, even with something like the HE 6 [hell I might grab the T90 and HE 4 around the same time to compare em before I jump to HE 6] still my next confirmed purchases are a LD MKVIII SE [+ tubes] and a Balanced Beyer T90.... [which will force a sale of my DT 880] but just wondering what to do at that point... which is 6 months from now... I guess I could start getting picky with cans like the LCD 2/ D7k HE 500 and what not...

Wish Hifiman would make a closed Woodie already [looking forward to the Auzede] as I have no clue what to upgrade my w1000x with [as it's a woodie]

oh well :D that's the fun of it all right

Thinking about buying HE-500, but I will change to a Schiit Mjolnir instead of my Conductor.
How does the HE-500 fit with the Mojo for electronics/EDM/House?

Don't know about the Mjolnir, but HE-500 on all amps I have, with EDM & House was amazing. The HE-500 treble and air does wonder.

Moon would be good or "Q audio".  As has been said, just get a cable that has the Hifiman connectors on one end and the appropriate balanced connector for you amp on the other end. (i.e. 4-pin XLR or dual 3-pin XLR) No mods to the actual headphone are needed just the cable.  I went with 4-pin XLR (that is what my current amp has) and then got an adapter for duel 3-pin XLR in case I want to try out amps with duel 3-pin.

Thanks, that's what I was looking to hear.

Why would you want to swap? Heard the Conductor was a very good pairing for the HE-500 so I'd definitely try it first if I was in your shoes. One thing you might consider is looking at USB->SPDIF converter so you can bypass the Tenor 8802 USB chipset on the Burson.

A proper amplified HE-500 is a joy with any EDM music.

The reason I want to swap is because I want something exciting, more powerful sounding. I just dont think the Conductor is the it amp for such genre. But enough about that.

  hello everyone,

I'm a new very happy owner of an HE-500.

I've posted an info request on the "Introductions, Help and Recommendations" forum, but thought that this dedicated thread would be the best place to ask.

Anyone here using an Auralic Taurus MKII with the HE-500??  feedbacks?

What ampli can you recommend if:
- I like a detailed, transparent and very dynamic sound
- I like a neutral, very tonally correct reproduction
- I absolutely don't like harsh or fatiguing highs
(I've gone back till the page 450 of this incredibly long thread, and didn't find anything related, if you already discussed this in a previous page please excuse me)

many thanks
mike

Sounds like you want the decware taboo on the more expensive end. On the cheap end of the spectrum, the schiit asgard. It's hard to get your highs to be overly harsh with the HE-500 but it is possible with certain combinations.
