Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch

I know a lot people don't want this, but I hope Fang just tunes the 400i to be like the 560. I like neutral flat sound without coloration. If he has to color it up a bit, than I can settle for the shelved upper-mids of the HE-500 + mid-bass hump. But it cannot have that flabby bass. It must be tight.

But yeah I'm hoping the 400i = 560 with just a tad bit less refinement without wood, but 90% of the 560.

My 2 cents, YMMV, etc, etc.

did you just say what I have been wanting to say lol. It is textured but woolly. It reminds me of the 7520 in that it has resolution but isnt the tightest.

But thats why I like the 400 bass a little better.

90% at half the price?  Heck,  I will take one too.

I don't think this wood is worth 400 bucks alone.
I think Hifiman won't do that because it didn't work with the RE400 and RE600 which were tuned very similarly.
So I think they'll be different and even HFM themselves said it.
Sorry guys

Excited for these.

Oh and as for suspension-banded headphones: all AKG headphones except the modern K5xx models, all Stax except the SR-1/2/3/4/5/X, the Yamaha YH-1, YH-2, YH-100 and YH-1000, the Sony DR-Z5, DR-Z6, DR-Z7, MDR-R10, MDR-F1, and many of the MDR-CDxxxx headphones, Pioneer SE-1000, SE-450, SE-550, SE-650, Monitor 7, Monitor 10-II, Koss K/6X and variants, Pro/4AAA and 4AAAT, UR-40, UR-20... the list continues on.

Great headband design, for sure. Probably the best inherently. I'm surprised it isn't used more.
